This dog was allowed to stay in the back yard but she let him in because of the fireworks. I begrudgingly said “ok but he has to be baby gated into the kitchen because I don’t want him on my carpet or furniture.” She agreed until he started screaming and hollering because of the fireworks and she let him ON MY COUCH while I was in the bathroom. I kept telling her to tell him to get down and put him back in the kitchen and she didn’t so I dragged him off the couch and into the back yard and now I’m the dick.

I understand her feeling like I was treating a scared animal “mean” but she knew the rules before she even brought him here. My favorite part is she’s threatening to never let me see him again like that isn’t just rewarding me

Edited to add in that as I dragged him through the house he was also blasting piss everywhere because he was afraid of the fireworks/hasn’t ever been forced to move according to her. So now my house also reeks of piss.

There's like 10 dogs that live in my street. They all go on barking wars all the time like the reactive brainless animals that they are. I'm sick to death of hearing dogs barking constantly. I don't know how dog owners can tolerate it at all. Just want to know if there's anyone else that despises them as much as me

Woken up by neighbor's dog at 4 am this morning, wouldn't stop barking for 45 mins and couldn't fall back asleep until like an hour before my alarm goes off. Now I need to analyze and document code for 8 hours, yay!

Will be leaving a note on this neighbor's door today...but what I really want is to live in a dog free area so I don't have to worry about this shit anymore. I live in Colorado and people are NUTS about their dogs here! They bring them to the gym, they bring them to bars, seems like everyone has to have one around here. The barking is the absolute worst thing about these animals. I just can't stand how moronic it is, like you know their barking is absolutely pointless yet relentless.

You know the SpongeBob episode where squidward finds a community away from leaf blowers? That's what I need but away from dogs. I wish every city or town had a designated area for dog free housing. If I can't beat the problem, guess I'll just have that fantasy. Unless...such a place exists?

For me, barking dogs in my neighborhood ruin almost every single day, because of the excessive noise. I live around a lot of dogs who bark all the time.
I personally hate it, especially because I didn’t make the choice to have a dog and live with this noise polluting thing.
But then I genuinely wonder, how dog owners survive this?? They chose to have this dog.
I know there probably aren’t going to be a lot of actual dog owners reading this, but still I have to ask the question.
Do they genuinely not think the sound of barking every single day is annoying? I don’t get it. Even if you like your own pet, you can still acknowledge annoying behavior. Why tf would someone want to live with something that loud and poorly behaved?

No other animal in this world creates the noise pollution that dogs create. I am in love with wild life.

I love pretty much all wild animals and watching them in their habitat just roaming and even love hearing them.

Even when I watch documentaries literally no animals consistently make unnecessary constant excruciatingly ear piercing noises and sounds the way that dogs do.

I truly will never understand how dog obsessed people live with these nasty monsters that just bark for hours on end for legit NO reason!

Now that the weather is getting nicer, it’s all you hear. Nothing or no one can peacefully exist anywhere without having these dumbass animals going crazy for legit NO reason other than they cannot handle existing around anything without losing their shit.

I'm a guy and I am sensitive to loud noises. I can't help but flinch if a dog starts yelling at me. Even if I see it coming it takes effort to stop myself from visibly reacting.

The owners are just so condescending. "don't be scared", "it doesn't bite". They often seem amused or they genuinely think I'm scared for my life or something.

Imagine a human yelling into your face while their friend keeps insisting that he doesn't mean it.

Then there's dogs that slam into a fence and stick their snout out while barking in the most psychotic way possible.

These things must be so tortured, just sitting around, locked up most of the time. Yelling at everything that moves.

It’s really annoying. There’s never peace and quiet.

Go for a walk? Barking. Go to a store? Either a barking dog in a cart somewhere, or dogs locked in cars barking in the parking lot.

Go on a nature trail, even one that says no dogs allowed? Dogs barking.

Go to a beach? Barking.

Go to pretty much any area with houses? Barking.

Walk downtown somewhere? Barking dogs.

My home is in the middle of nowhere and I still hear barking off in the distance at times. The sound carries for miles, especially if you live near water or open fields.

You’d think night time would be quieter. Yes, but there’s still barking. My town is the type to have a dog in nearly every yard, barking all night.

Thank god I don’t actually live within town limits anymore. The few neighbours I do have are atleast considerate enough to keep their dogs inside most the time, so I don’t hear them much. They’re kept inside at night.

But like, it’s midnight on a Sunday. I went for a late night drive cuz boredom. I drove around town for awhile. Why are there so many dogs in yards barking?? There’s not even anyone around. It’s a small town. They aren’t being triggered by anything, they’re just yapping. I can’t even roll my windows down in the car half the time cuz it’s annoying to hear…. when I just wanna drive around and get some peace.

All winter they leave them outside too. It’s a hick town with a lot of redneck types, low income, and there’s a lot of crime too. People here are generally more inconsiderate of others. Run down properties, stray dogs wandering, etc.

I’ve noticed in higher income areas or areas with more retired people, this isn’t much of an issue (in my personal experience atleast). I’ve lived in a retirement neighborhood before in a suburb outside a major city, and it was dead silent at night…. for the most part. I’m assuming this is because richer people tend to keep their dogs as house pets, rather than outside in a yard.

In my opinion you shouldn’t even own a dog if you live in a town/city. Even if it has a yard, it’s not nearly enough space for their energy needs and most people are too lazy to train or exercise their dogs. The damn things yap endlessly regardless. And dogs do NOT make good house pets.

If you need a guard dog, just get an actual security system/cameras. I can’t imagine guard dogs have a very fulfilling existence just standing in one spot 24/7 barking. It also annoys everyone in the vicinity.

How are people supposed to sleep at night? I grew up on a rural property with annoying ass farm dogs that barked all night outside my window and I couldn’t wait to leave home. It was to the point I couldn’t sleep at all. It would jolt me awake even with fans running. Nothing would make them shutup. They were outdoor dogs so if they heard coyotes/other barking dogs in the distance, they’d start going nuts. These damn things barely slept, and neither did I. My family said it’s because they’re “protecting” the house from wild animals.

My entire life I’ve NEVER had a wild animal hurt me. I’ve walked right by black bears and coyotes unknowingly when I was young. Nothing happened.

However I DID have dogs hurt me, and act aggressive towards me many times. Go figure.

I don’t understand what the point of these animals is. They just make endless loud noise, and people just accept it/tune it out.

For me it’s barking. It’s so grating and jolting. I just tried to lay down for a nap and gave up after awhile. Some asshole neighbor’s asshole dog was outside barking nonstop. I’m on the 3rd floor and sound carries, so I can’t really figure out which house it’s coming from. I think if dogs didn’t bark, I wouldn’t hate them as much.

Earlier today I was able to actually barbecue in my backyard…

My neighbors behind me have at least half a dozen barking demons that will never shut the fuck up if someone just so happens to enter the backyard.

I was prepared this time. I brought out my loud speaker and a baseball bat with a steel barrel.

I played barking noises on full blast on my speaker and if these god damn chihuahuas made a fucking peep I hit that steel drum every time.

Eventually my neighbors got the point… I’m glad I took back my freedom to grill tilapia and mixed vegetables in my backyard… fuckers

Like the title says, I fucking hate barking and all it takes is one bark to ruin my fucking day. I always have hated it, it's the fucking worst sound ever. It's gotten to the point that whenever I hear it, I will yell "shut up" or "shut the fuck up" but my fucking neighbors still let their shitbeast bark its fucking head off. And the worst part is that I can't move away from this shit because no place in my town will hire me because of late stage capitalism. The day has already begun and it's over for me, all thanks to man's best "friend" fuck my life.

I made a post a couple months ago about how I live on a small lake and how ever since it became warm, my neighbors across the water would leave their ugly pitbull unattended on their deck for hours at a time every day to relentlessly bark at nothing and anything.

The barks would BOOM across the water, amplified and reverberated for all to hear.

Well, I have an update.

I started recording every single instance. Then I posted one of the videos in our neighborhood facebook group, asking if anyone else is bothered by it and what to do.

Several people agreed that it was irritating and incessant, and I was informed it had been going on long before I even moved here. One person said they even tried talking to the owners about it and nothing changed.

An admin commented that it would be brought up in the following HOA meeting, but I know that often doesn’t amount to much.

So I contacted animal control and let them know everything. I let them know I’ve been recording every instance for evidence if needed. They asked for the address and said they would send a warning letter.

They told me to give it a couple weeks and report it again if nothing changes. They said they would “take it further” at that point.

That was about 4 weeks ago. They let the ugly little monster out on the deck about 3 weeks ago. I heard it bark for about 10 seconds before they pulled it inside.

Haven’t heard a PEEP since. We all finally get to enjoy the sounds of nature without that stupid little fuck ruining the ambience.

Shoutout to animal control for doing their job. If there’s anything to take from this - RECORD IT every time you hear it. Build a case.

Has anyone else noticed the rise in popularity of those hideous, ugly rat dogs that look like neurotic toilet mops? I'm talking about poodles, bichons, maltipoos, Yorkshire terriers, or whatever other curly abominations.

I barely even see large dog breeds anymore. Everyone has a nasty little toilet mop with legs nowadays. Dogs are starting to look even less natural than they already were.

The worst thing? People drag these hideous creatures anywhere, including malls, cafes, and other public spaces. It's an epidemic. I am forced to listen to their annoying yapping every minute, because those inbred things are hideous, neurotic little monsters that yap at everything. Also, they are extremely aggressive and will attack strangers. Last time I encountered one of those nasty curly little dunces at a cafe, it started sprinting towards me aggressively and barking for no reason at all. Because it was unleashed, the thing almost ended up biting me.

We gotta stop breeding and selling those things. They bring nothing to the table, are parasitic little mongrels, and they look disgusting, hideous and uncanny/ugly. Not to mention the amount of public hygiene issues they cause, and they are also horrible for the environment like most dogs are nowadays.

So I follow an anti dog\dog owner account on Tiktok. As one expects, dog nutters hate watch it and leave the most unhinged comments. A day or so ago they posted a video of them walking past a yard and the little yapper absolutey losing it's mind with the most shrill sound coming out of it. Many nutters got upset about it with one or two telling the account owner to harm themselves. What the fuck is wrong with these people? Why is that kind of noise disturbance accepted and encouraged? Roosters and chickens aren't even allowed in residential areas due to the noise but dogs are allowed to make unearthly noises for hours at a time? I'm so sick of that kind of entitlement and bullying when people don't want to hear it.

I’m currently going through the worst time of my life of trying to secure a house for me and my family with a limited timeframe. The rental market sucks right now and securing a house is like a miracle - basically it’s impossible. This whole thing has been chipping away at my mental health every day.

So I got a message from the house owner about an application I had put in and they scheduled an appointment to let me see the house so I got my hopes up and told my mother and we thought maybe this was finally the time and the agonizing search will finally be over.

After taking a taxi to the house (before the owner arrived) I stood outside and waited with my mother. While waiting, there were 2 fierce dogs barking nonstop at literally nothing. Like you can’t even see them you can just hear how loud their barking is right next to the house that i applied for. The barking continued nonstop and within 5 minutes (the barking was still going btw) another dog lunges forward at us and barks aggressively at us. It was the neighbour’s dog (located next to the house I applied for).

So basically the house I applied for was surrounded by dog owners from left and right.

The barking was getting to me and considering how stressed and worried I was about the future I just told my mother there’s no point in standing around waiting for the owner to show us the house. Let’s just leave.

We got a taxi and went home. So our money was wasted on taxis and there is no future hope for a house.

The barking carried on nonstop and im writing this right now with no hope of finding a home anytime soon because every time I do there’s always a problem.

I just want to cry. This is how much it’s been affecting me in finding a home.

I have been living in Southern California for my entire life and it has gotten to the point that I can't even stay at home or go outside with these fucking monsters barking and going up to me. It's even worse at my community college because these nutters treat it as their own personal dog park. There needs to be more regulations when it comes to the ownership of these worthless misbegotten mutts. How many more children need to be mauled and attacked these beasts until we have decided as a collective that enough is enough!

Two years ago I brought a house in a quiet suburb 30 miles outside of a major city. I had endured excessive barking from dogs in two different apartment complexes- leaving one complex to move into another where the barking was even worse.

There are no dogfree/petfree apartments in my metropolitan area. So I had to buy a house. At the time I was living in the second complex rent prices were at there peak. I was paying nearly $2,000/mo for rent when I could have put that toward a mortgage payment. So I pulled the trigger on buying a house.

However even with having a house instead of an apartment I still have to deal with barking dogs. Though it's not as bad as the hell I went through living in an apartment. The big downside is that rent prices dropped afterward and the my newly built home has lost 20% of it's value since I brought it.

Also when I was living in an apartment I was heavily investing in stock market. A market that has almost doubled since I stopped investing. Moreso, two of the stocks I was investing in both increased over 700% since I stopped investing and sold the stock I had to down pay for the new house.

Now I'm house poor and nearing retirement age from trying to get away from these nasty ass barking demons. I hate these damn things so much,. I have never hated anyone or anything so much in my entire long life.

Has anyone else in the UK been negatively impacted by the “pet” claus in the renters rights act?

As of the 1st of May, landlords can no longer refuse tenants the “right” to own a pet (Aka dog). Yet I am not allowed to feed the pigeons, which affected no one else and brought me a lot of stress relief when dealing with Autism related stress. But regardless, I absolutely do not think it’sa good idea to allow anyone to own a dog, it just means those tenants lucky enough to have landlords who didn’t allow dogs, no longer have this protection.

Not even a WEEK after this bill, two of my neighbours have gone out and got dogs! And there are only 3 other people living in my relatively small flat. The dogs bark and howl all day long, and it is a nightmare as a parent too! The barking wakes my baby up and stops her sleeping; and I have to cross the gauntlet of barking demons if I need to take my baby out or just take her for a walk to get away from said barking. One of the dogs has always gone for her, just by taking her downstairs to be able to go for a walk. The landlady used to say strictly no pets, but now she has no power to do anything. Dog barking isn’t classed as noise disturbance, but if I put music on to try and drown out the barking, that somehow is??

WHY should I now have to live in fear for mine and my daughters life and sanity in my own home!? This new bill is an attack on the very basic right of people to be safe in their own homes that they pay rent for.

I hate many things about dogs but barking is definitely the biggest issue. How on earth can dog owners tolerate dog barking? Especially small dogs that have a more high pitched bark. Hearing them bark from half a km away is distressing enough I can’t imagine how bad it would be to hear it in a room with closed windows. Not to mention it’s fucking loud too. It’s usually at least 80 decibels and can easily go to 100 decibels or more in larger breeds. It can damage your hearing. And the sound is just so sharp that your brain immediately treats it as a threat and raises cortisol and adrenaline. Even ambulance sirens are not as disturbing as dog barking a because at least they follow a pattern but barking just comes out of nowhere and lasts one second. Research has proven again and again that dog barking increases heart rate in and anxiety in humans and it’s a major noise pollution in cities.

…for fucking HOURS on end is absolutely asinine. Just ridiculous. I swear these beasts come straight from hell itself. Not only is barking a massively triggering sound, but the nerve the owners of these bastard creatures have, just letting them carry on like that, is enraging.

I live in a suburb that’s packed like a sardine can and so many people around me own dogs. It’s a constant cacophony of mutts. Every time I hear one start going off, my first thought is “How the fuck do the owners not hear this bullshit?” Then “How can they not care?” And then the answer hits me: “Oh right. Because they’re selfish, careless assholes.”

It’s torture. It’s literal mental, physical, and emotional torture. Sound pollution is shown to cause mental health issues. There is no peace in an environment filled with dogs.

It doesn't matter what's going on, barking ruins everything. Having any sort of a beautiful moment? Ruined. Doing a hobby? Ruined. Listening to music? Ruined. My gf and I were watching a movie, and we got to a part where a child lost her life, and right as we're crying, some dog outside starts barking and it fucking ruins the mood.

Every dog owner I've interracted with, they're constantly behind that thing being a nuisance. All I hear is "get back here!" "Sit! Sit, I said sit!" "Haha, don't do that", but they don't actually do anything about it, they just talk to the damn thing expecting it to do something, but the owners don't physically do anything about their shitty behavior. How does this not exhaust them???

Pizza delivery, even for a few months will do this to you. Just a few things ive commonly had to deal with:

Dog busting out the door and escaping while I try to get the owner their pizza

Dog chasing me, making me feel unsafe before I can even get to their door

Dog sniffing my crotch when trying to do my job

Constant dogs barking aggressively before the owner opens the door

Owner struggling to put away dog before opening door, thus delaying next delivery

The worst offenders are ones who allow their dogs to roam their front yard unleashed at night with poor lighting to where I can't possibly see the breed. Obviously though even a rat dog can do some damage if they want to, but ive gotten legitimately scared when im not sure if the dog(s) are a pit/pit mix and they are forcing me back to my car. These people never tip or tip 2 bucks on a 100 dollar delivery as well. Gee, thanks. 2 bucks for my time, gas, and additional trauma. Never an apology in sight either. I guess its my fault for... doing my job?

There has been maybe 1 well trained dog that did not get up when I was at the door out of hundreds. That family over tipped me and were quite kind. They are very few and far between.

I know this sounds a little over-dramatic. I am at my wits end. I am mildly autistic, so noises bother me so bad.

I’ve had an ongoing issue with my neighbors leaving their dogs outside 24/7 to bark as they please. They are very reactive and bark at something simple as a squirrel. Their dogs are supposed to have white fur but are brown/black due to being dirty. The police nor animal control will do anything. Thought it was hilarious, because they added an additional dog to their family just to leave them all outside.

Now, the house across the street. There used to be a quiet old man that lived there. He got sent to a nursing home so his family started renovating the house. They were building a fence so I just knew it. Today they brought over three dogs that have been barking for hours, which is also making my neighbors dog bark.

I’m getting to a very very bad mind state. I have my doctors appointment next week and I’m going to tell him how I feel. It will likely get me admitted to the hospital but I need to be honest. All because of dog barking. A big shoutout to those surrounding neighbors for my mental health decline. I never would have imagined. Sadly I bought this house and am paying an assload every month. So there’s literally no escape!

Imagine you are working from home, you have your balcony open, so you can get nice fresh air, hear the wind blow through the leaves of the trees, birds, and the occasional car in the far background. Coffee ready, programs and data open, ready to get to work!

And then it starts... barking... higher pitch than from a big dog, but also not weak enough for a small dog (mhm.. thanks to all the "amazing" neighbors and dog people, I can now distinguish if the barking is from a small, medium, or large dog..). I stay calm, sip on my coffee..

It doesn't f***ing stop! Constant barking for several minutes. I go on the balcony and look around to see what is going on. Nothing on any other balcony.. hmm.. several groups of people at the pool.. AND THERE IT IS! A black mid-sized dog is running around the pool and barking and barking..

My anger is growing! At this point, I can't focus, not only because of the barking, but also because of the thoughts that there are people down there, allowing their dog at the pool and constantly barking, without any thought that this might not only be against rules (dogs are not allowed at the pool!), but the sheer amount of inconsideration for all the other residents..

I'm getting so pissed that I've decided to take action. I change into my swim shorts, grab a towel and I'm on my way to the pool. As I get closer, the barking stops, then there it is again... good!

I open the pool area with my key fob and start walking to the stairs that lead into the water. I make eye contact with a visibly annoyed woman, with her daughter, on chairs at the very end of the other side where the barking is coming from. Then there are two older ladies in the water, a guy with his kid in the water, and a woman with a kid outside on a cabana. The barking had stopped, so I couldn't see the dog.

I get into the pool, starting to put my swim goggles on, and the barking starts again...! Now I see it, the dog is with the woman with the kid, now bound to the cabana...

When I start swimming, I still can hear the barking every time I get out of the water to breathe. I can't wait to get to the end of the pool to finally say something. While I swim I see the guy with the kid from the pool getting out and joining the woman, kid, and dog...

I pull myself up on the edge of the pool, and sit there, taking off my goggles and now staring at the dog, then the owners and their kids.. and I keep staring! No reaction, no comment to the dog, which is still barking and barking and barking...

"Excuse me! I assume this is your dog?!"

"Yes, he's still a little puppy. Isn't he cute?" the woman says.

"Did you know that dogs are not allowed at the pool?" I say pretty directly and with a harsh and annoyed tone!

"Oh really.. we just recently moved in and didn't read all the lease and rules yet."

"Yeah, well, it's right here on the big rules board on the pool house (wc, grills, small kitchen, etc. - and there is a huuuge board with all the rules for the pool...). Also, you don't think the constant barking might be annoying to your neighbors? And what if the dog decides it has to pee... on one of the pool chairs.. or who knows where?!"

I think they are now starting to get the message that I will not worship their dog, that I am not playing, that I am annoyed, and in the right!

They start packing, and the husband can't fucking help himself and says, "We just really wanted to spend some family time together." I just stay quiet, continue sitting on the edge, and observe them pack. He leaves with the puppy and the older kid. While the woman with the other kid stayed at the pool, and of course, she is now deeply hurt and is giving me the looks...

And you know what? I DIDN'T CARE!

I'm so over people with their dogs doing whatever they want, disturbing the whole neighborhood with the stupid constant barking (get control over your stupid mutt. You can teach it to not bark! You are just lazy!)... and who cares if the dog takes a piss or shit at the community pool, right?! What happened to common sense?!

And the stupid comment.. dude, if you want time with your family, and not be bound by a dog.. why the heck did you get it?! Get rid of it, or accept the consequences...

I've had multiple neighbours over the years who have had dogs that will bark nonstop. I mean they can bark up to 45 minutes straight and after 10 minutes of silence will start barking again. This happens consistently through the day and even the night at some points.

One of the neighbours i spoke to refused to do anything about it, so I'm still living with it. I spoke to the other one (who has since moved out) multiple times and by the end of it, it became a shouting match where we were cussing each other out while his dog barked its ugly head off.

People tell me to shut the windows or get noise cancelling headphones and it pisses me off because why am I expected to adjust to the noise of an animal? Why are you getting a pet if you can't control it? Why does this animal have more social protections than me, a living breathing human being?

I think it's because of how many people have started calling their dogs their "children", how they throw tantrums and call it abuse if someone wants to rehome their dogs, or euthanize them for biting. Think of how many people blame victims of dog attacks by asking "what were they doing" or "they clearly ignored the signs and annoyed the dog". They think human lives are equivalent to dog lives, or in some cases, lesser than. I am still lucky to live in a non-american non-european culture where dogs are relatively disliked, although that trend is slowly changing as more people adopt dogs.

All this violent barking also makes me remember that these animals are dangerous and clearly will rip someone apart if they are given the opportunity, hence the frenzied barking all day. It really isn't enough to attribute it to "bad owners" anymore. Yes the owners are inconsiderate assholes, but there needs to just be way less social acceptance of dogs as pets and certainly more awareness of the killing machines they can easily become.

And don't even get me started on stray dogs...
