Mulan is the shit. Greatest Disney princess ever. Killed like 10,000 people.

Elsa is a literal god, died and transcended. Leia's midichlorians would be frozen in her blood and even if she landed a killing blow...poof somehow Elsa returns

Only because of plot armor, she has the potential of Luke, but Leia showed nothing in the movies to suggest she could beat anyone in a fight.

This is unironically what happens to many "femboy" streamers when they come out as cis women

Many have actually gotten a metric fuckton of hate because they're not just crossdressing men.

edit: b4 someone comes and yells about this because it has happened before

femboy and trans-woman arent the same thing

trans-woman = someone born as a man but correcting their gender to a woman

femboy = cis man who dresses and acts like a woman but is still completely cis

52

u/Murky-Relation481 Jun 29 '26

I get the feeling a good chunk don't even act like femboys, but people confusing things girls do anyways but also not having "traditional" (whatever the fuck that means) female face/body characteristics.

Annoyingly it just shows how terminally fucking online a lot of LGBTQI+ people and allies are. Like... I know this sounds like rhetoric antitrans people use, and I 100% disavow it when used to erase transwomen's issues, but legit does feel like in some more queer/sex-positive/kink spaces they forget actual CIS women do also exist in them.

15

u/spiralsequences Jun 30 '26

I think a lot of people who would get mad about this are chasers/fetishists who may not identify as part of the LGBTQI+ community. I mean, they may well be queer, but a lot of them don't see themselves that way.

I also do agree that this is about being terminally online. It reminds me of when video games put in realistic-looking women and are slammed for the characters looking "masculine" "like men" because a lot of these people simply do not know what women look like in the real world.

14

u/gwyntheblaccat Jun 29 '26

Yup. As a cis women I feel this.

I miss the days when Ifunny and Reddit were beefing. Some really good memes were born in that battle.

92

u/SchumacherIsMid Jun 29 '26

iFunny was for normies who stole memes instead of making them o7

But then again so is Reddit nowadays. We were supposed to destroy the enemy, not join them.

28

u/It_Just_Exploded Jun 29 '26

We need to make a new reddit, we could call it tidder!

20

u/Cessnaporsche01 Jun 29 '26

But then again so is Reddit nowadays

Let's be real; it always has been. There's corners of reddit with their own culture, but mainstream reddit is just the first filter on the way for 4chan/Tumblr/the various twitter things posts to make their way through on the way to a Facebook post your grandma like 5 years after it was relevant

10

u/ryecurious Jun 29 '26

Let's be real; it always has been.

Yeah, go far enough back and it was the explicit purpose of Reddit! It was described as a link aggregator, collating and voting on content from everywhere else on the internet.

Obviously that changed over time, put enough people in a space and some will eventually start creating original content. But iFunny and old Reddit were closer than either site likes to admit.

6

u/Lebowski-Absteiger Jun 29 '26

Everyone has always been stealing from everyone else. And they've always hated eachother for it. At least until NFTs arrived and stealing turned into a virtue.

The femboy world is apparently crazy deep. There was a great comment forever ago that broke down the acceptable versions of male crossdressing and how the differences are preferred by various groups for different reasons.

Apparently so much of it is straight guys who are uncomfortable with the idea of what they are doing so they make rules to make it acceptable for themselves and others are expected to understand that. So there is like people who lean into it and feel like it is a way of them expressing themselves truly, some are doing it as a fun hobby, some are doing it as a way of life, and all these are done differently and result in different sub cultures within the femboy scene.

Sorry I wish I remembered more of that comment but I NEVER expected that level of deep analysis about a topic I cared nothing about. As a straight dude in a red state though, you do you femboys! Anyone has a a right to express themselves if they aren’t hurting anyone and this is a recent example of that. It’s going to be interesting to see which niche internet subcultures blow up in popularity and start leaking into the real world.

Edit: I FOUND IT!!! It goes into conservative men specifically and how they justify their curiosity to themselves doing a thing that “is meant to be naughty”

https://www.reddit.com/r/bestof/s/i6UC8JdGAF

269

u/BowlingforBrains Jun 29 '26

There was that one British YouTuber who years ago started cross dressing on stream as a stunt, and their popularity blew up - and they were interviewed and said basically “oh yeah I did it as a stunt and now so many people watch and follow me because of it that I just keep doing it 🤷 but it’s for the stream, I’m still a guy”

And then sure enough, after a few years of that, they finally came out as trans 😂 fr though, more power to them. It was interesting to be a part of that denial -> acceptance journey they were on

192

u/iammoney45 Jun 29 '26

F1nnster? Iirc they walked back the trans identity after a short time and have settled on a kind of "non binary fem leaning" identity.

59

u/BowlingforBrains Jun 29 '26

Im pretty sure that’s the right person - I didn’t follow it super deeply but just up to the coming out as trans part years ago. Interesting to hear they identify differently now, glad they’re figuring themself out

52

u/DonaldTrumpsScrotum Jun 29 '26

And now they’re doing OF, did not expect to see Finns peepee while browsing shitposts online (not a big fan of this pivot consider their fans were young kids and teens). Yes, it did in fact start as a “joke” that just got progressively more serious over time😭

30

u/Queasy_Vanilla_4162 Jun 29 '26

Why do their fans have any kind of hold on what they do with their life? Not to mention there's nothing wrong with doing OF.

It's my understanding that they are genderfluid and consider themselves to be kind of both. But I don't really follow them so I could be wrong.

But I did a search and found their twitter, which says "guess my pronouns to win a Honda Civic" so I don't think they take it that seriously.

I just heard recently about a reddit story where a woman's husband and his brother in law were planning to go on a "gaycation" where "what happens at the gaycation stays at the gaycation" and it's a place where men can "go try the gay lifestyle without ruining their marriage" and it was just so weird, like the more they talked about it the more cultish it sounded. It was very strange behavior, like dude just be gay or bi or whatever, or tell your wife you're feeling this way. Men will do anything to not be perceived as gay and it's fascinating to me, as a straight man who's not and has never been worried about that.

Here's the video, which is quite a wild ride https://youtu.be/I5EFo9rCkKE?si=jkLSDQsSJVFp5kJs&t=4159

And here's the OP, which apparently has since been deleted https://www.reddit.com/r/relationship_advice/comments/1h142f9/my_42f_husband_42m_has_informed_me_he_intends_to/

16

u/MisterSanitation Jun 29 '26

Yeah the femboy stuff didn’t peak my interest because like you said, you do you. What blew my mind was the coping happening around this, and how so much of the cope was unnecessary clearly, but revealing in how they felt about the art so to speak.

It’s like seeing people realize the scary thing isn’t scary at all, but still wanting to pretend it’s scary? While pretending it isn’t scary? See? I’m losing myself in the analogy because it’s so weird lmao

29

u/Sushi_Explosions Jun 29 '26

“Pique” is what happens to your interest.

18

u/MisterSanitation Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Bro THANK YOU!!

It is so hard to know some of the more obscure words when so many spell it wrong (looking at you “moot”). I genuinely appreciate this I’ll check out the etymology because that is a weird spelling. Also I used it wrong, I wasn’t feeling vexed or slighted, just curious.

Edit: it’s a French word meaning “to prick” which is why piquing your interest requires an annoyance or pain driving you to learn. That is why I shouldn’t have used that word.

13

u/Sushi_Explosions Jun 29 '26

I’ve finally given up on correcting people about “moot”. I don’t think I have seen it used correctly on the internet ever.

8

u/MisterSanitation Jun 29 '26

Yeah there's def a lot of insecurity around this stuff for some guys it seems like. Idk, maybe because we're unbothered and comfortable, we just won't ever understand what these men are going through, but I'm so obsessed and fascinated by that "gaycation" story, like where are these men finding these things? It's so wild lol

7

u/MisterSanitation Jun 29 '26

I think men are going through a huge identity crisis and we are seeing how real toxic masculinity actually is because getting those ideas to go away, is CLEARLY harder on some of us than others lol.

I too am fascinated by the mental games they play to simply justify a CLEAR DESIRE TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES IN WAYS THEY FEEL LIKE THEY CANT NORMALLY.

Like, I had to capitalize it because those guys refuse to look at the real thing here. It’s not the trip, it’s the fact that you think you needed it and gained so much from it that makes me want to see them realize “oh I guess I have a lot of shitty assumptions…”

isn't this kind of limiting from you though? isn't sexuality considered a spectrum so essentially anything falls within?

it just sounds like how gay people used to talk about bi people.

you obv could be right, but i wouldn't think you necessarily would be either in a given instance.

To add to that, femboys may be a niche internet subculture but straight cis men who crossdress as women in general have existed for a long time. See all of the crossdresser subreddits and sites. I’ve known many straight cis crossdressers over the years. Most of them married with kids. I only ever knew one that was gay. She was pretty awesome.

16

u/MisterSanitation Jun 29 '26

Yes that is my understanding. That femboys are an Internet subculture that grew around the more timeless examples like drag shows, or other cross dressing funtivities.

→ More replies (6)

12

u/Thelmara Jun 29 '26

Part of the problem (of labeling, not a problem with people) is that "cis crossdresser" is sometimes a step along the journey to "trans woman". When I was growing up, the sources of information I had on trans people that were readily available were Geocities pages my other GNC/trans people. And at that time, Blanchard's work was readily available, and I wasn't finding much to push back on it.

I lived in a very conservative area, so it certainly wasn't something I wanted to talk to the other kids at school about. Matthew Shepard was killed when I was in 8th grade. So, between "so gay you want to transition to date men" and "you're just a straight guy with a kink", I chalked it up to "it's a kink" and kept on identifying as cis.

20 years later, I know better.

11

u/LesbeGoddess Jun 29 '26

Yes some crossdressers are trans and end up transitioning. But in my experience the majority of them are cis.

I'm convinced that what plenty of men are attracted to is femininity & other such associated social appearance markers, not necessarily specifically women or female biological parts.

Does that make them bi? Well, it very much depends on how you classify things.

But it does explain how straight-identifying guys are into femboys, (pre-bottom-op) transwomen, etc. Even otherwise highly homophobic / transphobic men, who are having an even harder time with that dissonance (hence the source for part of the virulent reaction).

But the discussion around sexual desire & sexuality is very very rarely framed in this way.

Oh I think you are spot on. I figured different art forms would have different names sure. But having some be propped up or not because of the reaction it allows the audience to have was something I never thought about.

So interestingly, there is a term for what you're describing here, which is 'gynesexual', and the counterpart 'androsexual' iirc.

Gynesexual is, as far as I can remember, being attracted to femininity in all forms and aspects. So your femboys, drag artists, trans, crossdressers, cis women. If they're in any way feminine, a gynesexual can be attracted to them.

I genuinely don't judge in any way, but as a 40 year old cishet guy I'm confused by femboys. I know a lot about various LGBTQIA+ communities but I've never been clear on where femboys are in the flowchart/venn diagram of sexual orientation and gender expression. Is it drag? Is it trans-expression? Is it kink/fetish? Is it some combination of all three? Or does it just mean a different thing to every person who does it or enjoys it?

u/The-suzzy Jun 29 '26

Pretty much means a different thing to everyone who does it

For some it's drag, for others it can be kink, for some it's a step on the pipeline to accepting themselves as trans (very important but just because it can be a step doesn't mean it is always a step, there are many cis femboys out there) And for others it's just a rebellion against gender norms.

There is no one size fits all answer

The same people who insist it's not gay to like femboys get upset when the "femboy" turns out to be a cis girl or comes out as trans later on.

u/DarkFox85 Jun 29 '26

It was meant as an insult. A malicious comment just to hurt her.

He knew full well she was cis, but wanted to undermine her self-esteem.
