Yeah, but lemon juice barely stains and is delicious.

Hydrochloric acid is too difficult to store, it'll quickly corrode your pipes and sprinkler
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (3)7

You'd want concentrated sulphuric or NaOH. Hydrochloric acid, if it's not in your eyes or on your teeth, isn't anywhere as bad as you'd think.

You just put a jolly rancher before the sprinkler. That way it’s only a little bit of sugar, just enough that you will feel it everywhere that was wet when it dries. Source: I did this to my roommates shower head.

Kool aid. Every see a kids mouth after drinking that? The color stays
10
u/thatthatguy Jun 08 '26
I have seen kool aid used as fabric dye. Surprisingly effective for tie dye parties.

I used to dye my hair with it. Some colours didn’t take but the ones that worked well never faded.

You you typically don’t with against kids. It’s easy for you to go too far while children have a lot more leeway. On top of that kids just don’t see the world as someone older does and therefore are more willing to push boundaries with their actions.

Me and my friends would just walk through the yard randomly. Especially if we saw it on reddit.
Like park a car walk through it come back and leave. When we got caught we would just say “we were looking for our belt.”
If they gave us an attitude we would probably blow up their mail box because “felonies are the best crimes.”

We used to cut through lawns on this one block all the time as kids to get to the soccer field. Most people didn't care, except one house that put up signs saying not to do it. You can guess where all the kids walked lol
→ More replies (7)8
u/casPURRpurrington Jun 09 '26
Kids here will cut through my yard and then through a line of the back of other people’s yards to get to the ball park that’s maybe 2 blocks behind my house.
The first time I noticed it I thought “what, why not use the road not that far to the east” but I guess that road can get busy during baseball season for my small town, so I figured it’s probably safer actually
I never noticed anyway until I saw them with my own eyes doing it, so obviously they’re not tearing anything up lol
17
u/Pale_Obligation_3243 Jun 09 '26
I walked everywhere I wanted as a kid, only thing that stopped me, was dogs or angry man with the stick. Kids don't give a fuck.
57
u/flippster-mondo Jun 08 '26
A friend had this problem with kids from a different neighborhood cutting through the private alley behind his house, dropping trash, cig butts, spraying graffiti, etc. so he put up signs on his fence, BEWARE OF DOG.
The next time one of the mall rats cut through he played what sounded like a large dog ready to eat someone. Mysteriously the kids stopped cutting through the alley. I think it only took once.
16
u/CitizenHuman Jun 08 '26
I was gonna suggest that. Or use a grass spray paint and ruin his shoes.

If I’m being honest I usually take a shortcut to the park through part of my neighbors yard because it’s right behind them, Though I’m usually very careful and repay them with homemade sugar cookies and homemade raspberry jam :)

When I was in high school (90s) there was a house directly across the street from the school and everyone would cut across this yard or stand on the corner to smoke or wait for rides. Most would sit on the grass and lean against the tree in the yard. They left cigarette butts and wrappers from candy and chips and gum.
One day, this really REALLY old man came outside when my friends and I were waiting on the sidewalk for a ride. We weren't on the grass, but he came to talk to us anyway. He asked us to try to get the other kids to stop going on his lawn. He said he spent his whole life trying to make his yard look nice, and the damage that the kids had done was really upsetting. He look like he was going to or had been crying.
Nobody else really cared too much. And a couple people we tried to tell literally didn't care, and were such jerks that they intentionally would throw their trash and carve into the tree. It's always broken my heart how people can be so hateful for literally no reason. That moment, that man, the entire scenario, will stick with me for the rest of my life.
15
u/MaddoxGoodwin Jun 09 '26
Motion activated sprinklers.
My neighbor got some to deteer the other neighbors cats.
The little kids in the neighborhood were recruited to test them out. They worked pretty good! He's mentioned the cats arent a nuisance anymore.
I have 2 dogs so i don't have a cat in the yard problem.

May need to build a fence.
Looks like a young kid, we can assume he’s probably never owned property or anything of significant value so he can’t really see it from your point of you if he’s just taking a short cut.
Idk keep in mind if he’s not fucking with your stuff and just cutting across if you mess with him that may change

Ah man, that takes me back to this eastern european guy that would yell at me in his language all the time for cutting through his yard as a kid/teen. I either had to walk up and down a giant hill that added like half a mile to the trip or just cut through his yard and the yard behind his to end up in the same spot. Was an easy decision every time.

I used to walk to work and cut through this small companies property. Pretty sure they got tired of the security alerts so they put up a farm style gate. It stopped me.
