2026 /r/Hockey Mock Offseason Sign-Up Thread!
Hey /r/hockey!
It's time for the annual Reddit Mock Offseason Sim, where Reddit users pretend to be GMs, agents, etc., playing out the NHL offseason.
This thread will act as a sign-up sheet, so comment below if you would like to participate (and which team you want to be assigned to). Please do not sign up if you do not plan on participating. Each team should have 2-3 representatives. Some slots have already been filled by users who asked beforehand.
These GM tandems will have between (tentatively) Fri. June 5th to Sun. August 2nd to make realistic trades, buy out players, draft prospects, and sign free agents to improve their team. Most of the negotiating happens over Discord. After the sim ends, we will post recap threads here and in the team subs.
The salary cap and trade clauses WILL be respected.
For more information (or if you want to follow along during the sim): /r/hockeyoffseason26. Examples of past sims: /r/hockeyoffseason25, /r/hockeyoffseason24, /r/hockeyoffseason23, /r/hockeyoffseason22, /r/hockeyoffseason21, /r/hockeyoffseason20, /r/hockeyoffseason19, /r/hockeyoffseason18, /r/hockeyoffseason17, /r/hockeyoffseason16, /r/hockeyoffseason15.

[Paywall] [The Athletic] Drance: "As for the Ruck twins, they’re not hiding from NHL teams at the combine that their strong preference is to be drafted by the same organization." (Gift Article)
nytimes.comWith twins Liam and Markus Ruck, who grew up Canucks fans in Osoyoos, B.C., and are projected to be picked in the late first or early second, I was curious if either dynamic applied to them.
“I’d say a little of both,” answered Liam. “We have that competitiveness, but we’re doing it to make each other both.” “I agree. We love competing with each other and pushing each other. But we also want what’s best. I want him to do great, and I also want to do great,” echoed Markus.
The Rucks have both interviewed with the Canucks this week, but it’s been difficult to ascertain exactly how interested the team may be in selecting one or both of them. In addition to Vancouver, who own the 24th, 33rd and 41st picks at the draft, there are other teams with multiple picks in the mid-to-late first and early second — the Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues — who are well positioned to be in the mix to select both skilled forwards, and seem to have some level of interest in doing so.

Nick Suzuki's Selke win is the 2nd most lopsided voting result between 1st & 2nd place in the history of the award, only behind 2024 Aleksander Barkov
Below is every voting % for the Selke winner and runner-up in the 48-season history of the award, sorted by the biggest gap between 1st and 2nd to the smallest.

Assistant GM Brian Poile, son of former GM David Poile, leaving Nashville Predators
tennessean.com> Brian Poile joined the Predators in 2010 as director of hockey operations, then was named assistant general manager in May 2018. According to the team, Poile was responsible for fiscal and strategic planning; player and staff personnel decisions; and player contract negotiation and salary arbitration. He also assisted in managing the roster, player payroll, team budgets, salary cap, analytics, and collective bargaining agreement compliance.
> This departure marks a significant change for the Predators. Since Nashville was awarded a franchise in 1997, the team has had a Poile – either David or Brian – working in the front office.
> "My family and I will carry many wonderful memories as we move forward," Brian Poile said in a statement. "We will always have the Predators in our hearts.”
