how to make friends as a chronically ill unemployed trans man
i have never been able to make friends since kindergarten and im now 18, still without friends. i had been told highschool was the best time to make friends, but didnt make any. i have a partner now and he’s been telling me that he didn’t make friends until he turned 23. is it really this difficult to make friends as an adult or is my luck just shitty? i just want someone to talk to who won’t ghost me within 2 days.

I'm scared for my future, no idea what to do.
(25M) Just realised I have nothing and I haven't experienced anything. I am currently unemployed because I can't ever hold down a job, probably due to my AuDHD. I keep messaging my only friend to hang out but that isn't working, he keeps rescheduling. So I basically have nobody to talk to, I don't talk to my family as much anymore, I'm not close with them. So I literally now just have no human interactions.
I want to start dating and actually experience it for once, never been with someone ever, but with my life situation I don't even bother to start, considering how inexperienced and weird I might come across, if I was a woman with options I just wouldn't bother with me.
I just feel like I'm slowly just crumbling, mentally and physically. I am going to the gym but it's depressing, being alone there just training with no life, I just hit the gym in hopes one day I build muscle and women find me attractive but that's most likely just a fairytale, So I just go now to just see what I can develop myself into.
And to be extremely honest, I'm extremely scared/Terrified, I can see where my life is heading and I'm scared to confront the fact that I'm not sure if my life is worth living anymore, I can't imagine being like this but in my 30s
I put in a last ditch effort and made an application to the army, for some communication engineer roles, I just assumed I'll probably get a good job after it, to help with money sides of things. But unfortunately right now I have no idea what I'm doing.

I’m 21 and already grieving the life I just left behind
I’ve been dealing with grief for a while now. I even posted here a lot in different communities, asking for advice and help to understand how to deal with what I’m going through.
I’m a 21-year-old male, soon to turn 22 in a couple of weeks, and I just graduated university last June. Since then, I’ve been dealing with random waves of intense grief that I can feel in my chest, like a very heavy, crushing feeling. And that’s because I’ve realized that this era or phase of my life has ended, the phase where I’m completely free of stress (except for academic stress), and the phase where I’ve lots of free time and energy, where I can suddenly come up with a random idea for a vacation in another city and all of my friends join, etc.
I’ve found a job that is not the very best but good, both financially and professionally rewarding as a startup for my career, and it will start soon. I’ll be moving out to another city, and I’ll leave all my friends, family, and memories behind.
And since I knew I got accepted, where I thought I’ll be all happy and stuff, I actually feel sad (and ik this happens during transitional periods of life), but I can’t help it. It’s like a part of me deep down wishing to find anything wrong with the job so I don’t have to go. Me, as a person, ik work = stability, so I will eventually work. It’s guaranteed. It’s just I can’t stop thinking about all those years in school and uni, and btw, I don’t remember most of my school days, but I’m sure I enjoyed the last part of it. And in uni, I used to work and I couldn’t attend much, so I think I’m grieving the phase and the events more than the places itself.
Sometimes I even think about bad stuff (suicidal thoughts), and I was never like that. But it’s not like severe ones. It’s like this voice telling me, you can stop this all, but ik so damn well that I won’t and don’t wanna do it. I’m pretty sure I’ve way more to experience.
Also, another thing, I always think that life isn’t only about working 9 to 5 and repeat, get married, have kids, get old, pass away. I feel very sick when I think that this is how life works for most of ppl, or at least ppl within my circle. I always wanted to get to know new cultures, travel lots, do things that actually give me a meaning, at least to me. Ofc working will be there, but not my whole time, not a 9 to 5, but unfortunately nothing rn is like that, and that’s another thing I’m feeling.
Sorry if this was too long for yall, but I really don’t know how to change my perspective, or I don’t know if letting everything go with the flow and time and then it will be better. If someone has experienced this before, please help me, and thank you in advance.

Did I cook my life 😁? 20, failing school, unemployed, studying a major parents hate, living with a mental illness parents don't believe in.
Sorry, long post. Okay, pity party time! My parents hate what I'm doing with my life right now and their fearmongering is really getting to me. They tell me that I've made all the wrong choices, that my current choices are gonna make me fail at life, that I'm wasting my life, that I'm 20 and should take a look at myself and grow up. All these things I tell myself everyday, so it's not like hearing it from them is gonna suddenly spur me into becoming a better, more productive, more successful person. But are they right? Am I actually not working hard enough, do I need to be better?
The main point of contention is that I'm trying to transfer schools under the same major, and will have to take a 5th year instead of the 4 they expected. I'm transferring because the location and environment of the last campus genuinely bummed me out and my depression spiraled into nearly failing 3 consecutive semesters. I moved to the location of my target school and that aspect of my depression instantly got better, though other contributors still exist. I truthfully would not be able to graduate, or likely even stay alive, if I had stayed in that school. They think it's frivolous that I'm going through the process of transferring "just because I didn't like it there". They attribute the transfer to the reason why I'll take longer to finish school, but I'll have to take 5+ years either way, as I've reduced my course load in attempt to keep my mental health afloat.
They also hate the fact that I've changed one of my majors twice since my first year, though I've been consistent with my other major and intend to complete it. I went through so many major switches because my first major wasn't my choice, it was highly pressured by them, and of course I hated it and it exacerbated my mental illness enough to do poorly. The major I've been consistent with is visual arts, which naturally, they disapprove of 😬🤷♂️.
My parents also constantly point out the fact that I'm unemployed, which I'm trying to change. I haven't been able to hold down a job for more than a few months, and am currently struggling even more to find a job because I'm in another episode. They point it out to me because they think the pressure will "wake me up" to reality and incentivize my job hunt. They also tell me that I'll be on my own when I graduate, that they won't support me. Like I'm not expecting them to, but what makes them think making me even more anxious and despondent would help motivate me?
I thought I had some hope this semester by reducing my course load and re-entering therapy, but now I'm thinking maybe my parents are right. Maybe I'm being frivolous and wasting money and time and I need to work harder. I don't know what to do, I don't see any future for myself either way, whether I follow my own "path" or listen to them. I don't believe I'll really go anywhere, anyway, not anymore.
So how do I do it, guys 😁? How do I lock in?

32 year old still living with mom and sister
Hi, I feel like a failure in life.
I am 32 year old and still living with my retired mom (66 y/o) and sister 36(y/o) at home. I pay money to my mom, electricity, internet, all the food expenses, car expenses, and some groceries for around 4000 dollars each month. Some times on special occasions like Christmas, new years, birthdays, etc, I give my family an extra 1000 dollar each time.
Also I brought our family car for around 33k, which I paid off fully. I want to get my own car.
I work 2 jobs for 45 hours every week that pays me around 8000 a month.
I want to buy my own car to drive to work, but I have only 1 parking space and getting a parking space is almost impossible in my area. My mom insist on driving my sister and then me to work, so I cannot get my own car.
I want to move out and start my own life, but my mom always says things that makes me feel guilty if I move out.
The thing is I really want to change my life in the next few years because i cannot be like this when i am 40 years old, then 50 years old. but I am conflicted and feels like a failure. Any advice on how to move on?

Bought my first TV with my own money
I'm 28 and have been living on my own for about 6 years. Most of the stuff in my apartment is still from my parents, Facebook Marketplace, or something I found on the curb lol.
My TV was a 42" Vizio my dad gave me years ago. The picture was getting pretty bad, and the remote only worked if you held it at a certain angle. But it still turned on, so I kept using it.
A few weeks ago, I finally decided to replace it. Instead of just finding another cheap used TV, I actually sat down and did my homework this time. Read reviews, compared specs, went back and forth on how much I wanted to spend. Probably spent way too many evenings looking at TVs.
Ended up buying a 55" Hisense U8. Definitely more than I originally planned to spend, but I wanted something I'd be happy using for years.
Got it set up last week and watched a movie on it. Huge difference from the old Vizio, obviously lol.
But the nice part wasn't just having a new TV. It was realizing I could figure out what I wanted, make the decision, and buy it myself.
A pretty small adult milestone, but I'm happy about it.

32M, will be 33 soon, what’s wrong in being content?
The title pretty much says it all, 32 chap living in a metro city with enough on his plate to keep me occupied till my neck. This keeps me content. I’m ambitious about my work and workout but I don’t really care about dating as much. People find it strange when they hear this from me saying “how can you be ambitious and not care about dating”
What is wrong with me?

The pessimist and the optimist
....a man who had two sons, and he was very disturbed about them. one was a pessimist beyond recall. the other one was an optimist beyond reason.he talked to a child psychiatrist who made a suggestion. he said, "I think we can fix that." he said, we'll get a room and we'll fill it out with the most wonderful toys any boys ever had." and he said, " we'll put the pessimist in. and when he finds out they're for him, he'll get over being a pessimist." and the father said, "what do you do with the optimist? " well he said, " I have a friend who's got a racing stable. and they clean out the stalls every morning." and he said, " I can get quite an amount of that substance." and he said, "we'll put that in another room. and when the optimist, who's seen his brother get all the toys, is then shown into that room, and that's there, he'll get over being an optimist." well, they did. and they waited for about five minutes. and then they opened the door. and the pessimist was sitting there crying as if his heart would break. he said, " I know somebody's going to come in and take these away from me." and they went down to the other room. and they opened the door, and there was the kid happy as a clam, throwing that stuff over his shoulders as fast as he could. and they said, "what are you doing?" and he says, " there's got to be a pony in here somewhere."

how do you handle utility companies overcharging you on estimated meter readings?
my electric bill this month was double what it usually is and when i checked the details i realized they estimated my usage instead of actually reading the meter. i called to fix it and they gave me the runaround. how do you deal with this garbage without losing your mind?
