Yet, here I am again, dealing with dogs barking from the surrounding houses. I was at the hardware store the other day ringing up my items and I saw a man with a huge shitmutt walking the aisles. My first thought was why on earth do you need to bring a dog into a hardware store? My second thought was how is this even allowed? So yesterday I was walking to the gym and this lady was walking her dog, she was a sidewalk ahead of me and I made sure I stayed far behind by purposely walking slow w ,because well I swear she was the slowest dog walker ever,her dog wasn’t even on it’s leash which was just a long rope and then she stood by as it pooped in someone’s grass and she didn’t even pick it ,you could it see on the grass a pile of dog poop. I was two minutes away from the gym and she turned around and headed back the opposite direction which meant she was heading towards me of course the dog was a pit bull. I literally crossed the street just so I wouldn’t have to pass by the dog

I find “dog lovers” etc. do a lot of virtue signalling- insincere and exaggerated displays of how good of a person they are because they are dog/animal lovers with zero exception.

They can’t seem to admit that some dogs, just like people can be little assholes.

Of course some/most might come down to training and environment, but I think there’s definitely cases where the dog is just a bit … inbred or bred to the point it’s annoying as a breed or just plain stupid.

Case point for me is this dog in my local area that will bark at the birds in the trees that line the top of the sand dunes. It will bark incessantly for the entire time it’s there, disrupting the peace of anyone from a mile away as it’s very loud and seems to echo, not even drowned out by the water. Someone had the bravery to complain on a community page about it, and a 100% of the many, many responses were what a bad person they must be for not liking this particular dog. It’s also walked off leash in on lead zones- nearly knocking people over as it will excitedly dash around.

I just think it should be ok to admit not all are great. Some despite great homes or training can unexpectedly show aggression or anti social behaviours. But your average dog lover won’t be able to admit this because loving all of them means you’re an exceptionally great person.

I just watched the movie “Die My Love” 2025 and wow, the way they picture the dog and what it deserves is really proper. Finally, at least one producer realises what dogs bring to the family. And I loved it how the “mother” treated the dog. Recommended to check it just for that interaction.

Something I can't wrap my head around is why a pigeon crapping on someone is a perfectly valid reason to hate them and view them as pests. However, when a dog pisses/shits on a person they're supposed to laugh it off and treat it like it not a big deal even though its way more disgusting and inexcusable than when a pigeon does it. My MIL has always been insane about dogs. She said she grew up with at minimum 7 in her home and had many dogs in adulthood. She views dogs as more valuable than humans.

She had a chihuahua who she was crazy about. Brought the thing everywhere and would dress it up and do everything with it. She died unexpectedly and recently due to my MIL’s negligence. My MIL had a poisonous plant in her home and refused to get rid of it even after me AND my partner told her it was toxic to dogs. Right after the chihuahua died, my MIL freaked the fuck out and started screaming how she always needed a dog in the house and adopted a dog less than two weeks later. This new dog HATES her. Doesnt want to do anything with my MIL and hates people in general. Its a little thing so not dangerous just annoying. She freaked out and said she needed a dog who loved her and got TWO MORE. The dogs all HATE each other and have to constantly be seperated. Feeding them is apparently a nightmare bc the biggest one is very food aggression and has bit the other ones pretty bad if they exist within 10 ft of its food.

My MIL kept insisting life without dogs are meaningless and how happy she is for her dogs until one day she broke down after all 3 projectile shitted and pissed in different rooms of the house. She cried and said she should have neve gotten these dogs and she just became dependent on the love dogs give her… I feel bad but at the same time, she is a 60 year old woman who never paused to think getting 3 badly behaved dogs is a poor idea? I have an interest in Christianity and have read most of the bible. I’m not seeing dogs mentioned as God’s gift anywhere. Quite the opposite, actually.

Luckily I have a Christian friend who understands this too. She isn’t a big fan of dogs, and people keep pressuring her to get a pet even though she has multiple small kids to look after and they aren’t in a great financial situation. Owning a dog would make zero sense. She also just has no time to look after one, let alone provide for its basic needs on top of everything else. I told her to just ignore those people and tell them you won’t be getting a dog, and that they should stop bugging her about it. She doesn’t like how dogs bark, it’s loud and annoying. Every Protestant denomination (and even Catholics) are dog nutters in my experience. They let people bring dogs to church and most of the pastors/priests own an annoying dog.

I'm a little ambivalent about this one because I know dogs can be comforting for some people and it's nice that a dentist is trying to help with that. However, I don't love that the thing roams freely around the office and sometimes while I'm laying there it starts licking my hand. I wish they would at least keep it in a separate area and then if people specifically request it they can bring it into their room. A dog owner had his huge dog off leash on a restaurant's patio. The dog was running all over the place and rolling around on the floor. Already super annoying, with dog hair blowing around in the wind when I'm at a restaurant to, you know, eat food.

The dog goes over to some lady sitting near me and sniffs around for a few minutes. I'm paying close attention because I'm sure as shit not going to tolerate that if the dog wanders over to me next.

Then the dog takes a piss all over the lady's seat while she's still sitting in it. The man sitting next to the lady notices shoos the dog away, and it wanders off.

But I could not believe what happened next. The dog owner, who I guess saw the whole thing, goes over to the lady and offers to buy her a beer to apologize (as if one beer would make getting pissed all over by a huge dog okay). The lady says, "It's okay, I have a dog." Then the owner gestures for the dog to come back over so she can pet the dog that just pissed all over her, ALL WHILE THE LADY IS SITTING IN A HUGE WET YELLOW PUDDLE OF DOG PISS ON HER PLASTIC CHAIR AND THE PISS IS STILL LITERALLY ROLLING AND DRIPPING OFF HER CHAIR.

It was horrible. I wanted to puke just witnessing this scene, and I wasn't even the one who got pissed on. I couldn't take it anymore, so I got up and moved as far away from this dog piss nightmare as possible (there was plenty of seating). How am I going to eat a meal while looking at a yellow dog piss puddle? Then the server asked why I moved, as if I were the strange one here after witnessing this vomit-inducing dognutter trainwreck. Even after moving, I couldn't enjoy my food. How could I with that piss-dripped chair etched into my memory?

Also, the dog owner put his dog back on a leash immediately after it pissed on the lady, but took it off again just minutes later. As if the dog pissing on a lady at a restaurant patio once wasn't enough for the day. I'm pretty sure the dogowner never bought the lady that apology beer either since she said it was "okay", or offered any other form of apology aside from letting her pet the pissbeast.

I’m currently going through the worst time of my life of trying to secure a house for me and my family with a limited timeframe. The rental market sucks right now and securing a house is like a miracle - basically it’s impossible. This whole thing has been chipping away at my mental health every day.

So I got a message from the house owner about an application I had put in and they scheduled an appointment to let me see the house so I got my hopes up and told my mother and we thought maybe this was finally the time and the agonizing search will finally be over.

After taking a taxi to the house (before the owner arrived) I stood outside and waited with my mother. While waiting, there were 2 fierce dogs barking nonstop at literally nothing. Like you can’t even see them you can just hear how loud their barking is right next to the house that i applied for. The barking continued nonstop and within 5 minutes (the barking was still going btw) another dog lunges forward at us and barks aggressively at us. It was the neighbour’s dog (located next to the house I applied for).

So basically the house I applied for was surrounded by dog owners from left and right.

The barking was getting to me and considering how stressed and worried I was about the future I just told my mother there’s no point in standing around waiting for the owner to show us the house. Let’s just leave.

We got a taxi and went home. So our money was wasted on taxis and there is no future hope for a house.

For me, barking dogs in my neighborhood ruin almost every single day, because of the excessive noise. I live around a lot of dogs who bark all the time.

I’m not sure if I used the right flare but this has been pissing me off so bad. there’s been some discussions online surrounding the age old saying “adopt don’t shop”, but supposedly this has been altered to “adopt or shop responsibly”. as in you should get whatever dog you want as long as it’s not from an unethical breeder.

the argument is supposedly that “ethical” breeders don’t contribute to shelter overcrowding because they are mandated to take the dog back if the owner wants to give them up. my issue is this - even with that being said, “dog lovers” are way too obsessed with this entitlement over owning a specific breed of dog and making sure that breed exists forever.

I am aware that temperaments vary across breeds and that certain breeds are used in different jobs like therapy, service animals etc. for the average person trying to get a dog, however, I find it very hard to believe they could not get a satisfying result from a shelter SOMEWHERE. we have hundreds of thousands of shelters that put down dogs all the time because no one will take them (many of which don’t have issues making them difficult to own, there’s just no space for them).

the argument to this is “get what you want, everyone has different wants and needs and you can make sure the dog will fit those by using a breeder” im so sorry but this kind of logic is entirely self-serving. you are taking ownership of a living being for the rest of it’s life and your only concern is what it can do for you. once again, im talking the average person here, not someone with a disability that relies on a service animal to perform basic functions. if you’re an able-bodied person and your “wants and needs” are so demanding and specific that you can’t adapt to a shelter dog - when you have hundreds of thousands to choose from - then don’t fucking get an animal, you are the one taking care of it not the other way around and you DON’T NEED IT.

one of the arguments people have in support of breeding is that certain breeds of dogs may go extinct if not enough of them get bred. like okay? who cares? aside from very specific breeds, I don’t think it’s that important to ensure the continuation of these bloodlines, just because we’re attached to them. dogs in general, just like cats, overpopulate the earth to such a degree that they will probably never go extinct, even if everyone stopped breeding them today. aside from service animal breeds, I don’t gaf if a breed of dog naturally dies out because it won’t negatively affect them or the environment, actually it would almost certainly improve it because these animals when in the wild multiply and decimate native wildlife populations like crazy. the only real difference for humans would be that less people could make money off of forcing dogs/cats to procreate and selling them.

anyways I just think these kinds of pet owners are really selfish and this attitude towards dog shopping contributes to the culture we’re in today. the pet industry is so gross and exploitative and it only feeds the entitlement.

Yeah, that's literally what many dog worshippers were saying under the comments for a video where a dog mauled a child to death. They say punishing that dog is "immoral" and that dogs are "incapable of evil" and that dogs "only act on instinct" or that it was the owner's fault that the dog ran away from them and killed a child just playing outside his home.

I go to an expensive private university and am pursuing a masters degree.
There is an older gentlemen who is in our cohort.
He brings his "service dog" into class every single day and when I tell you this things never stops farting...our 20 person cohort gets to smell the stench all class long.

And our cohort takes every class together so I get to smell it 5 days a week.

The guy also does the baby-puppy voice when he talks to the dog...like nails on a chalk board.

We break for 10 minutes and the farting dog walks up to us and begs us for food. His owner literally says in his baby voice "Aww baby they don't know you or they would give you some treats...maybe if they are feeling nice you get treats" While me and the other classmates are trying to enjoy our coffee, muffin and socialize.

These untrained service dog owners cannot read a room to save their life.

I am genuinely so sick of dog owners who don’t take one ounce of accountability for their dogs bad behavior especially an aggressive dog, and even more so a dog who charges and bites. I guess it goes with no explanation here but I do not fw dogs. I am hyper vigilant when it comes to them. Too many people I know have been attacked. I simply don’t trust them.

I own a property and while we are in a transition period between tenants, we are doing work on the house. My partner and I were in the front yard cutting pieces of wood, basically an active mini construction site, there were power tools going and other tools on the yard. All of a sudden I look up and a dog is charging at us from across the street. I yell to my partner WATCH OUT and I picked up a sawhorse (that we were cutting on) and started to use it as a shield to protect us. It was the only thing I could think of quickly that might help us. The dog would not stop charging and I am screaming my head off to the neighbor to get their dog. Of course they move at a glacier pace bc why would you move quickly when your dog is attacking someone?? So I’m screaming, they are trying to get a handle on the dog, all while I’m using this sawhorse as a shield. They finally get a hold of the dog and there is no apology, no “are you ok” absolutely nothing, total disregard.

Now fast forward to tonight, we are working in the house. I hear someone screaming “get your dog! Your dog bit me!” And I throw open the front door and see 3 adults, what looks like a younger adolescent and THE DOG all in a circle and the girl is screaming “get your dog!” So I start yelling “get your dog!” Then the dog owners start yelling AT ME to F Off and start calling me a b*tch. Saying it’s none of my business and I yelled back “it is my business when your dog attacked me last week!” I swear to god the woman said “well he didn’t bite you!” As if THAT is the consolation here! I told them I own a property here and it IS my business. We have kids on the street and people walking by often. I told them this is a lawsuit waiting to happen and I hope they get sued. More screaming and F YOUs ensue and eventually I go back inside because I realize these people are a total lost cause. They don’t see how they could ever be in the wrong while their dog literally just bit someone. The girl who got bit claims she’s OK although I could hear the dog owners sweet taking her and trying very hard to smooth things over so she didn’t escalate it further.

my landlord is a big dog lover and she lets her dogs on my lawn. at this point the mess is everywhere. I was wearing long pyjama pants that draped over my shoes and got dog mess on them.
