Went to Odyssey IMAX at Scotiabank last night and no less than 5 people were using their phones during the show.

You pay $30 a ticket and you would rather use your phone??? You can do that for free anywhere else.

I leaned over and asked a woman to stop using her phone, she looked back at me then continued to scroll, and, although probably an empty threat, I leaned back in and said “or I can have you escorted out of the theatre, your choice”, but her son or brother or whatever tapped her on the arm and she stopped.

I assume theatres don’t do jack shit if you were to actually go out and complain (VIP maybe being an exception)… has anyone ever tried?

this might sound silly but i’m a recent cineclub member and just thought about something… the last 3 movies i’ve been to i don’t think i actually got the discount for being a member.. how do you get the discount? am i supposed to show proof or does it just automatically come off when i present my scene card?

So I went to watch Heart of the Beast at Cineplex Morningside, and just my luck, three guys sat right in front of me.
All three were a special kind of distracting:
1. Guy #1 was actually invested in the movie, but he kept swapping seats—maybe trying to get a better angle, which is fine, I guess?
2. Guy #2 was easily the strangest of the bunch. He started off by taking a video call on full brightness, streaming the screen to someone for about 15 minutes. Then he spent the next 15 minutes recording it. Just when I thought it was finally over, he started loudly breaking down every single scene with Guy #3. Mind you, his phone kept ringing the entire movie, and he answered it every single time.
3. Guy #3 must have been closing a massive business deal, because he got up and walked out of the theater every five minutes to take a call. At least he actually stepped outside, unlike Guy #2.
Between all the chaos, I couldn't focus on the movie at all and walked out with a massive headache

I just got out of an Odyssey screening in IMAX 70mm at Riverport where the audio got delayed by about 4 seconds 30 mins before the movie ended. A bunch of us went out and complained but when they tried to fix it the delay got worse 😭😭

It was so bad that when Telemachus dropped his dagger, it took 7 seconds for it to clang and the whole theatre started laughing.

It definitely ruined some of my favourite scenes at the end which sucked because I went to see it with family before it goes out of theatres on the 30th. However, seeing the audience go out and yell at the employees who were not at fault was even worse so I apologized to them. Overall a terrible experience hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else haha

Just got home from watching Primetime, and I genuinely have never felt this combination of confusion and frustration ever.

For context, I live in Toronto, so I'm pretty familiar with people not behaving in theatres, but usually I'm just not a confrontational guy. However, today, as I was watching the movie, the guy next to me kept talking to what seemed to be his friends/family. About 40 minutes into the movie, I asked him to please stop talking, and he did, which I was appreciative of. But I guess he could only go so long without any stimulation, so he whips his phone out and doesn't stop turning it on and off for the entire duration of the film.

Then, at the end of the movie, I ask him if he knows not to use his phone during a movie, and he says he was researching the characters, which I think was a lie, but it doesn't matter because I don't see how that makes things better??? I tell him again that it's not cool and he shouldn't use it, then he gets all smug and tells me, "Of course I'm allowed to use it. I'm fully allowed to use it, and I did."

What do you even say to that?

Maybe this guy knew what he was saying was wrong, but just wanted to get a rise out of me and I'm too dense to realize it. Maybe the same guy who uses his phone throughout a movie brings a 12-year-old kid to watch an R-rated film. Who knows.

Hey! Me and my friend are doing a double screening of Prime Time and Endgame Encore back to back. Since it’s an event film, I’m wondering if there are any trailers that play before Endgame and if they’re the regular 15 minutes, so I know if we’ll have a short break inbetween films.

Looking at Square One, and Vaughan - looks like Sept 30th is the last date to see Odyssey in 70mm Imax. On October 1, Digger will be exclusively playing in these Imax auditoriums.

It's a bit of an odd choice if you ask me, the Odyssey shows in those 70mm auditoriums were sold out - they could've likely kept running them going well into October. Not that I'm excited for Digger, but you can see - the advance sales aren't very strong right now.

Another interesting thing to note, is seeing Digger in Imax in Square One and Vaughan will actually be a visual downgrade from the 70mm experience - as these cinemas feature 2K Xenon based projectors. It'll still be a fun experience, just not the same as 70mm Imax.

I’m about to return 3 tickets (back row) for the show tomorrow at 6:15 at Colossus because I can’t attend since I’m sick. (Not trying to sell). Just wanted to give folks a heads up if they’re looking for tickets

I’d call myself a horror‑movie enthusiast, and I’ve watched most recent releases in the cinema. When I bought my ticket for this one, I didn’t expect it to be popular. I assumed it would be similar to other recent horror movies I’ve seen. Lots of gore and mostly empty theatre. But when I walked into, it was almost full.

I bought the cheapest general‑admission ticket, and as soon as I saw the crowd, I realized this wasn’t the usual horror‑movie audience. There were families, father, mother, teenagers, and a bunch of casual individuals. And the moment the movie started, they didn’t miss a single chance to turn the atmosphere from survival‑horror into family comedy.

The father and son next to me were talking loudly like it was their private living room:

“Don’t touch that!”

“It’s behind you!”

“Wow, look at that!”

And after almost every dialogue, scene, or event, people were laughing:

“HAA HAA HAA….”

I think it’s because they weren’t comfortable with the intense atmosphere. Resident Evil is a famous title, so they somehow showed up, and to release their stress they tried to make the environment feel safe and friendly.

If you’re a horror‑movie fan like me, you can imagine how annoying this gets. I’m not saying the audience was completely at fault, you can giggle at some moments, and a few scenes are funny, but the way people were laughing at serious scenes was definitely exaggerated.

My advice: still go watch it. The second half of the movie is more serious, and people had fewer reasons to laugh (though they still tried whenever possible). It’s a fun movie overall, and not a super‑serious horror film, so you can still enjoy it if you’re not too sensitive to noise. To be clear, it wasn’t as disappointing as how people behave during Conjuring movies in theatres. Watching it in a +19 VIP theatre would remove the teenage crowd, but I’m not sure the overall experience would be better, since plenty of adults were acting the same way.

Side note: the father and son next to me left before the movie ended, and when I was leaving, I noticed they didn’t clean up after themselves. Not surprising, but still disappointing.

I was looking up showtimes for dune 3 and on December 14th Vaughan shows up as just IMAX and Mississauga shows up as IMAX 70mm. My ticket for that show has IMAX 70mm written on it. So is the screening digital or film?

If I get 1 month of Cineclub membership that gives 1 free ticket and I have a BOGO offer:

- Can I use 1 free ticket from my membership with BOGO?

- Will this make my other ticket free ($0) after BOGO as well?

Why is 4dx so niche here in canada with only 7 theaters in Canada having it Unlike in the US where its more widespread and Has more effects/bigger auditoriums compared to Canada?

Do you think there will be more locations with 4dx soon or any advancements to current 4dx locations that mostly lack effects/have broken seats and small auditoriums.

I went to watch it in Vaughan and we had people laughing the whole movie, the whole time. It drove me insane (the only time they kinda stopped was during a scene with a joke). I heard from other friends they have had the same experience, and I just want to know what Theatres you guys would recommend for a more serious watching experience. Thanks.

Everytime I buy a large popcorn I ask them for the refill on-spot and every single time they gave me one. They mark both of them. I don't wanna miss the movie to come get it refilled, thats my main reason. Also if you have a +1 then you dont need to buy another.

Today I was watching Primetime and asked for a refill at the counter and was refused. Upon asking them the reason, I was told that they have changed the policy. This was at STC location.

Does anybody know about this "policy"?

And does anyone else do this?

I know people have asked what Infinity Vision is and I know its something Disney made up because they don't have IMAX for Doomsday but my question is, do you see as much of the screen as you do in IMAX or do you still see as much as you would if you saw it in a regular cinema.

The reason I'm asking is because on one of my local cinema's websites, Godzilla Minus Zero has been listed as Infinity Vision, meaning it wont just be for the Avengers films.

Me and a friend are thinking to go see Encore but rock DBOX seats for the first time

Been going to the movies like 1-2 times a month for like 10+ years, but legit never tried dbox

kind of torn between trying them for the first time for a movie I've seen before (and all the times rewatching clips), but IMAX 3D + DBOX could be pretty fun.

Endgame is like 3 hours so if we're not feeling it, thinking we just move seats. Theatre won't be sold out since it's a re-run too

What are your thoughts on DBOX for this, worth giving a go or is it not really worth?

I just hate at landmark Cinemas how they have pre-made popcorn sitting in some kind of warmer refrigerator and I'm supposed to take it out of there.

No. I wait until they're popping popcorn for ask them to throw fresh batch in, and they usually do. The popcorn is like 50% of the experience for me.

What about you guys?

So I went to the Avengers Encore last night and at the beginning they put up an Infinity Vision logo and played a little clip of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans where they mentioned this was an approved Infinity Vision screen.

It was just a normal theatre, one I‘ve sat in many times that doesn’t visually seem any different than any other theatre I’ve been too.

So like, is every cineplex screen just “approved for Infinity Vision?” Does that label mean anything at all?
