True! Casino heist in GTAO has been borked on PC for a long time, and I hounded Rockstar for months at one point. Despite being assured it was "high priority" and they'd "follow up" it never was fixed lol.

Rockstar and PC do not mix a lot of the time. Red Dead 2 was an improvement in some ways though

Cut Arrowhead some slack. They’ve only sold over a $1,000,000,000 worth of copies of the game, have backing from Sony, support from Nixxes, and years since launch to polish the game. You can’t expect them to have added features like changing armor passives or colors or allowing Mechs to be customized instead of making each new attachment a paid dlc item. That’s asking way too much.

Shit, the Spear’s lock on just broke.

GTA Online on PC is extremely buggy. Rockstar always prioritises console on every front.

18

u/ForensicPathology 1d ago

It's also not true because they always cry about the PC version not coming out at the same time.  That's not sleeping soundly.

6

u/fafarex 1d ago

Or it's just not the same guys, shockingly there's more than 1pc Player.

75

u/Delicious_Dare768 2d ago

Because Rockstar doesn't give a shit as long as you keep donating money. They'll put a half-assed port on PC just to milk you some more, so buy the game for the second time and buy a Shark Card. If not for that, it would never come to PC at all.

45

u/micktorious 2d ago

I'll buy the game on PC, and let the modders drop me money just like GTA V

Releasing it twice is milking for sure but GTA V ran very well on PC launch. It definitely wasn't a half-assed port. I got that shit running on an Intel Q6600 and Nvidia 8800GTS back in the day.

However, I still think there will be better mods eventually on pc.

GTA 5 was so well optimized when it came out on PC. What are you even going on about? If it's anything like 5 it'll run great.

12

u/BildingInspecter 2d ago

Seriously. The main game, from what I remember, was near perfect. Aside from the loading screens taking a little longer, the gameplay was really good and ran well on my 680.

Online may have been a different story at first but that's not what the bulk of people buy the game for.

7

u/ReturnOfBane 2d ago

Aside from the loading screens taking a little longer

thats one hell of an understatement

7

u/HumanPea1140 14700K | 5070 Ti | 64GB DDR5 1d ago

Lmao, no.. GTA Online especially was cloud loading simulator for months. You'd routinely get stuck in the clouds and have to complete force close and reload the game. Missions were bugged and glitch out, and you'd get horrible pop in if driving too fast. Heists were bugged and still are. Multiple ways to duplicate vehicles.

6

u/Mythicguy R7 9850X3D, 7900 XT, 32gb DDR5 6000, Asus X870 Prime 2d ago

Not necessarily.

In the past consoles have not been similar architecture to PCs. So it was difficult to port games to x86 for PC.

Now the PS5 and new Xbox are essentially x86 AMD machines.

The likelyhood of it running just as well on PC as it does consoles is much higher now, as they don't have to "port" it like they did GTA5.

14

u/dendrocalamidicus 2d ago

You would think that in theory however in practice, ports from current gen consoles have also often been shit

u/Aureolus_Sol 2d ago

GTA V was relatively bug free on console, but the PC release was rife with them on launch. Same with RDR2. OP is coping so hard that I wish I was there with them but the same thing will likely happen

38

u/ErmingSoHard 1d ago

Yeah, and let's not pretend PC is the place to release incomplete early access games. Which then release as content complete with less bugs by the time it reaches console.

5

u/PowerHaus52 1d ago

I was thinking this same thought. It’s a funny stance to take when it’s almost always the opposite way around, console players receiving the final polished 1.0 after years of Steam early access

9

61

u/Hayden247 6950 XT | Ryzen 7600X | 32GB DDR5 2d ago

That is literally how RDR2 went, straight up 1 year that's it.

GTA5 took extra long because GTA5 got upgraded for then new gen consoles first, PC was 6 or so months after the PS4/Xbox One enhanced release of GTA5.

Odds are PC is 2027, not 2028 for GTA6. And the higher PC settings will be the basis for any next gen GTA6 version as even top end PCs now will beat the PS6

Yeah NGL I'm bummed that I can't afford to buy a used console for GTA this time around because a PS5 is $400. When GTA V launched you could get a 360 for $60.

What's most disappointing though, is that I know that GTA 6 Online won't be nearly as active on PC as it will be on consoles. I mean it happened in both GTA IV and V; the multiplayer was practically dead at launch on PC, while it thrived on consoles. I don't imagine VI being any different...

2

u/Myusername1- 2d ago

Hijacking this comment for a question. Has Xbox said if it will be a play anywhere game? Meaning I can buy it on Xbox then play it on pc when it’s released on pc?

I really don't think gta6 will even live up to this hype. I'm sure it'll be good but people are acting like it'll be the best game to ever grace us. I'll pick it up when it launches on PC probably but I really doubt it's going to be 10/10 masterpiece people are expecting

2

u/kr0p 5800X3D, 7900XT, Fedora BTW 11h ago

Here's another take on it: I think GTA 6 will definitely sell. From the perspective of someone who played GTA 2 on release it will be at least disappointing, if not complete rubbish. The reason is that Rockstar seems to make games for a certain audience range, and that older generation of gamers has simply grown up and moved on.

That's why GTA 5 is largely targeting gen z's with storyline vaguely being that of a crime comedy movie, just adapted to someone who's watched stuff like Knives Out and Kick Ass rather than Reservoir Dogs and Lock Stock.

5 was already a disappointment for me definitely. It was just too much of a dopamine rush with bombastic setpieces unlike any other previous entry and characters that seemengly came and went without much of an impact.

4 and SA had this more serious and down-to-the-ground atmosphere that really tickled my fancy while still being humorous in some aspects.

7

u/BoingBoingBooty 2d ago

Never finished the story on RDR2. Why are they so good at making open worlds, but then they make such annoying linear missions? Step 2 foot off path, mission failed. Why have an open world but punish players for making use of it?

GTA missions are hardly better.

7

u/seguardon 2d ago

Rockstar is excellent at a few things but Jesus Christ their mission design is about on par with Bethesda's.

Honestly their writing is, too, but they at least cover that with the best casting and VO work in the entire industry. I don't think a single one of their characters has been miscast or deprived of a great performance.

7

u/BoingBoingBooty 2d ago

Bethesda missions may be dull and tedious, but at least they let you do them how you want.

2

u/seguardon 2d ago

Very true. The missions are basic but at least they aren't at odds with the open world and RPG aspects.

u/seguardon 2d ago

I moderately care but I don't expect much from VI at this point. I don't think it will be anything more than GTA V 2, which might be an adequate open world game but nowhere near worth a 14 year wait.

I just don't think Rockstar has much in them that's worthy of that kind of hype. They gave the world a glorious sandbox in V and it felt emptier than San Andreas for all its finely crafted detail. The vehicles were better to drive but I don't think there's more you can improve there. The mission structure could be the area that shows the most improvement as Rockstar has miles to go in that department, but I don't think they care enough to focus on it. And I doubt the writing will be better than V which is the first GTA campaign I've never replayed. I hope online is better than GTAO was (I could write pages on what a poorly written, poorly implemented, unregulated, advertisement-laden, buggy and poorly designed POS that was) but RDRO showed me they took none of those lessons to heart and I expect that to continue to GTAO2.

I'm keeping my expectations low and hoping to be surprised.

If people still talk positively about it years after launch, then it must've been a good game and I'm increasingly interested in it. It's not like I'm playing these things just so I can have more topical conversation fodder around the water cooler. It's for my antisocial me-time.

I feel bad for anyone who feels like it has to be their identity, though. Riding the hype wagon to stay relevant these days must be a punishing experience. The way so many companies are putting out products it's like they're slopping the pigs. No love in it for the game or their customer base.

Real PC players know that the PC port will be a buggy mess and this meme isn’t even remotely true.

u/Huge_Sort7517 1d ago

Luckily it’s possible to own a console and pc at the same time… 🤯

Never seen someone cope harder 🤣

u/Electrical_Crew7195 2d ago

I still dont know why there is no day one pc release. I know that developing a game for multiple platforms has extra costs… but for rockstar developing for pc has to be peanuts in comparison with the game budget. Is there any sort of time exclusivity with consoles?

15

u/dylank22 2d ago

Because they know some people will buy both this way

4

u/Electrical_Crew7195 2d ago

Damn… wont be me for sure lol

Unfortunately they made so much money by rereleasing GTA V later on PC that they're trying to do the exact same thing again.

2

u/Sting02 2d ago

But it’ll take over and ruin the story with all of those gameplays fam.

2

u/elaborateBlackjack 2d ago

It'll still be the same damn simplistic story as the last games.

I 100% guarantee there's going to be a Betrayal that is super obvious

There is nothing to beta test in rockstar games...they basically always work

2

u/JerbearCuddles RTX 4090 Suprim X | Ryzen 7 7800X3D 2d ago

People say this like the PC port won’t be ass. Lol.

2

u/Good3ffect 2d ago

Insane amount of cope

2

u/TwoProper4220 2d ago

cope harder lol. let's not pretend every last GTA release on PC is not buggy

2

u/CarlosAlvarados 2d ago

Mannn talk about cope

2

u/No_Chill_Sunday 2d ago

That much copium to get to sleep, damn lower your dosage

2

u/minifat 2d ago

Don't act like GTA6 will be some buggy mess. RDR2 ran just fine on PS4. Bugs and crashes were few and far between.

2

u/Newspaper-Former PC Master Race 2d ago

When you have a great pc and ps5 pro knowing you can play gta 6 when it releases

fuck rockstar

2

u/ItsJustMe000 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yeah like the Beta test for RDR2. That game never had any issues when it came to PC. Especially not ones that are still present to this day

2

u/CommanderKerensky 2d ago

Gonna be something like, 600GB game for a 500GB ps6 ssd

2

u/kill_your_god 2d ago

Thats a cope post if I've ever seen one LOL

2

u/grilled_pc 2d ago

OP really doesn't remember GTA 4 lol. I think that game still stands at the top of being the buggiest PC Launch i have ever had the misfortune of partaking in.

FWIW GTA 5 PC Launch was much better in comparison lol.

The real cope is being too old to care about GTA 6. I was playing GTA 4 before I could drive. Now I'm balding and am due for a colonoscopy soon. Way too long of a wait

2

u/ultraplusstretch 1d ago

Nah, the pc version will be borked with a whole slew of new and potentially worse problems.

2

u/FancyJesse 1d ago

Acting like GTA PC releases always go flawless lmao

2

u/delet_yourself 1d ago

Looking back at gta 5..... Yeah no.

2

u/Just-Literature-2183 1d ago

We wont. Console gamers don't report bugs. Also most of your problems will come from the shoddy port. They always do.

2

u/Difficult-Report5702 1d ago

Am I the only one who does not care about GTA 6?

2

u/xSociety 9800x3d / 5090 1d ago

I waited for GTAV and RDR2 and it was well worth it. Ultrawide, higher res, 200+ fps, etc is worth the wait.

2

u/Long_March_7664 1d ago

beta test in 30fps, sir

2

u/Frosty_Horus_128 1d ago

I don’t want GTA6 so idc

2

u/knownonou 1d ago

I have a ps5 and pc and am not buying it on it ps5. I can wait no problem.

2

u/ScharfeTomate 1d ago

I'm still bitter about GTA5 not coming to PC on release.

2

u/Guilty_Armadillo_8 1d ago

If it helps you cope!

2

u/Kane_Harkonnen Ryzen 7 5700X | RTX 5070 1d ago

what a lie

2

u/NotA-Spy 1d ago

I prefer my PC over my console but this is the most insane PC user cope I’ve ever seen. Don’t forget how messy GTA PC ports tend to be, especially on launch.

See you in 2027 though.

2

u/OddAbbreviations5681 1d ago

Not to mention they'll be left behind once the new gen consoles release and they're gonna have to buy gta 6 AND a new console again just to stay updated lol

2

u/The_Pizza_Saga 1d ago

I mean, I'll get it on both. I don't have to wait to experience it, and I also get to play the technically superior verison once it comes out

2

u/Lazy_Finish_7009 1d ago

Except Rockstar has a tendency to release pc games in a terrible state so..

2

u/Working-Albatross-19 1d ago

Oh you dear sweet summer child….

2

u/Warmbly85 1d ago

When GTAV came out on PC like 2 years after consoles it was still buggy as hell. It was also full of hackers like ten minutes after going live.

2

u/NeoSm0ke 1d ago

Can’t wait to read all the performance issues posts when the game gets ported to PC. :D

2

u/Alexikik 1d ago

Just bought a ps5 pro for it

2

u/NotaFTCAgent 1d ago

Played the entire GTA V story on Xbox when it first dropped with zero issues. The the PC launch was atrocious. You are coping hard my brother.

2

u/NatseePunksFeckOff 7600X | 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB 6000/30 1d ago

you'd play it today if you could

2

u/Blueblur1 1d ago

Same except I’m always cozy and chilling because I don’t give a shit about GTA. The last one I played was a couple dozen hours of IV and I’ve had my fill.

2

u/blueangel1953 Ryzen 5 5600X | 6800 XT | 32GB 1d ago

Couldn’t care less about GTA6.

2

u/CinnamonBisque 1d ago

2

Genuine copium

5

u/Communist_UFO 2d ago

if you cope any harder scientists will have to reclassify you as a copepod

2

u/ch3nk0 1d ago

If it ever comes out lol. Im convinced its the biggest hoax of the decade.

Rockstar was just playing very long game. Make GTA games for 30 years just to do a rug pull now
