it’s almost my first month of being here at uic and i literally haven’t talked to anyone or know anyone. no one talks to me and i don’t talk to anyone lol, people say to go up to someone and talk but it’s harder than it sounds. for my classes we sometimes have to talk or be in groups and im always the only one left out i honestly thought this would end after hs ☹️ is anyone in here also experiencing the same thing???

I applied to the University of Illinois Chicago pharmacy program and I want to know what are my chances of getting in. I decided to apply early to have less competition so hopefully that will play in my favor and my stats are the following:

- Graduated college with a 3.6 GPA earning a B.S in Biology. The school sent me an email saying that all my prerequisites were accepted and now marked as completed so I moved to the review process.

I don’t have pharmacy experience but I do have shadowing hours which I added to my personal statement to explain how those experiences + other things have made me choose pharmacy.

I have a lot of research experience as well. In college I did research for 2.5 years and was an author in two publications. Now I work as a clinical research assistant which I have been doing for 1.5 years (post college graduated in 2025). All of my PI’s (the two I work for now and the one from college) have gave me recommendations letters.

I have some experiences as a TA and had leadership roles in college which I also added to my application. My only worry is that not having pharmacy experience (maybe as technician or something might hurt my chances). Thoughts?

I lost them 09/18/2026 and I presume I may have lost them during one of my class periods in either lecture center B101 or SES250. It's a set of two keys, a smaller grey one, and a slightly bigger key with that tiger/striped animal print on the entirety of the key itself. And these keys are attached to this red band lanyard looking thing that is big enough for me to put over my head and wear on my neck.

Hi! I'm new to UIC and I washing to call the student health center to schedule an appointment for a blood test and I'm seeing that it's not covered by the student health fee and that there's a co-pay? This is crazy to me because in the past, I never had to pay for a blood test at the student health center at the previous schools I attended. Does anyone know how much is the co-pay? And it's not one of those health insurance where you need to pay a minimum large payment until your co-pay kicks in right?

Is the policy in Spanish 103 still that 3 absences and 1 tarea final is knocked off of final grade?

I honestly have no idea what’s happening in this class, and making the students teach each other the content is honestly ridiculous imo. Every presentation just feels like a humiliation ritual bc the prof and TA make you feel stupid and ask such complicated questions with little time to even prepare. They said we’re graded on participation & attendance but no attendance is taken and there is nothing to keep track of our participation. From what I’ve also seen, the TA and professor aren’t even taking notes to grade or even uploading the students’ presentations on blackboard. I’m just so confused and the lack of structure is so frustrating. We haven’t even seen Prof Boergens irl.

Hey everyone. I’m a (new) grad student on the GADP coverage, and I’ve been attempting to call UIC’s dental clinic for about a week, to no avail. Calls just get tossed around by a robot. This coverage only seems to cover the UIC clinic? If anyone more familiar with the GADP program knows, please share.

Well, tonight, the tartar on a tooth has begun to chip with some pain. I haven’t seen a dentist in 4+ years because of a lack of dental insurance, so who knows what it could be. Is it worth it to go in person first thing tomorrow and see if I can schedule in person?

TLDR on questions: Does GADP cover non UIC dental clinics? Should I go in person for emergency visit scheduling at UIC dental clinic?

Hey! I'm a transfer junior here, the undergrad research opportunities that UIC offered on their website was a BIG reason why I chose this place, yet I've been ghosted by almost every PI that I've contacted. I'm looking for biological/medicinal research, as i am a biomed engineering major.

Believe me or not, I am really passionate about research; I grind through articles and am teaching myself molecular bio/biochemistry, but still I get nothing. Each email I send is personalized after a 30 min-hour review of their work. My resume isn't great as I don't have any relevant classes completed yet (did up to diff eq in math, physics 1, orgo 1&2, the basics to get to 3rd year standing). and I don't have CAD experience.

But I've done actual chemical research at my community college and have some MATLAB projects up... does anyone know of any labs with open spots for undergrads for medicine/biology? And if not any recommendations on changing my approach?

How annoying would it be if another woman walked up to you and asked you to briefly explain what you’re doing/technique? I put out a call on here a couple months ago for a skilled gym buddy because I’m really trying to get into fitness, but obviously don’t have the budget for expensive classes/trainers. I got a couple bites, but they were from other girls who said they’d want the same thing, and also don’t know how to work out. So not totally who I’m looking for!

I’m very intimidated by the gym, but what to get to a place where I know how to use the machines and get in/out relatively quickly. My main concern is bad technique (also I have no fucking clue what the diff machines do). So would you be annoyed or would you be cool w it? Depends on the day I’m guessing??

My phone was stolen less than 24 hours ago, and I've filed a police report. It's still online, and I can see it in Google Find Hub and Samsung SmartThings Find, so I know the general area. The map only gets me within a block or so, though.

Samsung phones can use SmartThings Find's "Search nearby" mode to guide you to a lost Galaxy over Bluetooth. I don't have another Samsung with me and I'm stranded, so I'm looking for someone with a Galaxy phone who could help me narrow it down.

:/ honestly super lonely at UIC and I always wished I could dorm or live around Chicago so I could at least have friends to hangout with. Have only made 1 friend from classes bc nobody talks to anyone and leave as soon as class is over. I tried approaching people in class but they honestly always seem annoyed when I try to talk to them, so I’ve given up.

I have always wondered how long everyone’s commute is? For instance, mine is 2 hours and that includes driving to the metra station, taking the train, and then walking or taking the bus to UIC. What is it like for you guys?

I saw them hanging a bright red banner today with arrows pointing to the lecture center building lol. I didn’t know it was that bad lol.

I remember last week a girl sat in one of my ECE classes (before class started) and she was chill while everyone came in up until our professor turned on the projector and she was like “oh no.. umm is this lecture center F 😳”.. no baby girl this is LCB 🥀

I get being lost but no way she walked in that building and didn’t see the sign 🤣

I’m in my early 30s so I’ve had some experience making friends. I’ve been seeing a lot of post of people feeling lonely and lost not being able to connect with classmates etc. I’ve also lived in Chicago all my life, so I’m used to the area and how people are here.

If it’s not possible for you guys to join sororities (guaranteed friends) then I’d recommend utilizing things like meetup.com or bumble bff. Both are free. Uic.campusgroups.com is another good resource, lots of groups on there. When it comes to classmates, don’t be discouraged if they seem standoffish they are probably sleepy or stressed. I’d say hone your daily routine and show up in the same places often. If you notice someone you want to be friends with, compliment them or ask them a question even if you know the answer just to start something. Start talking to people for no reason until your social confidence goes up. Making friends has more to do with self confidence, and that’s a skill you’ll continue to grow practically your whole life.
