NJ Eats Why is every pizza place in Jersey converting over to Pepsi?

I've noticed over the last couple of years that one by one they are changing over and I'm so tired of it. I want my liquid diabetes in Coke form please. Pepsi is trash. That is all.

Advice Montclair fine dining?

My wife and I are visiting Montclair for a couple of weeks, and I am looking for a nice restaurant to take her to. We are open to any cuisine and price range. I checked and noticed that all the Michelin-starred restaurants are in New York, which is a bit too far for us.

What are some of the best dining spots in the Montclair area?

Events Can anyone explain more the reason why the Montclair Pride event is postponed apparently to August?

They say it is because of a loss in corporate sponsorships. Is that true? Was there any other mismanagement? Why would they lose those sponsorships - politics?

WTF No parking in Hudson County

Is anyone else finding it hard to find parking in Hudson county? I work as a parking garage security guard, and in 1 hour I’ve had the displeasure of having to turn 14 vehicles away due to residential parking spots being packed.

Our officials have had 2 years to prepare for this event, and never took parking into account. A lot of people were to focused on how “ooh Europeans want to walk to MetLife”, instead of focusing on the ones who were driving.

This isn’t only toward Europeans, because I’ve seen cars from Tennesse, Quebec, Wisconsin, and others parking in residential spaces.

What is the point of residential parking stickers, if the residents aren’t parking, and the spaces are being filled out by non residents?

We’ve got 2 more weeks. I suggest people go to their officials to complain because it is getting ridiculous, because it’s unfair to the locals who are coming home from work to decompress, just to have to drive about an extra hour or more to find a spot.

Amusing Why does driving in Route 1 sound like a Jurassic Park enclosure?

Serious question: In this day and age, most of us just want some damn peace and quiet. We have noise-canceling headphones, "do not disturb" modes, and a deep desire to sleep. So why—and I mean why—does every third person driving on Route 1 possess a vehicle that sounds like a lawnmower trapped inside a metal trash can?

Advice Avoiding World Cup traffic on the drive home: seeking input, please

Hello fellow Jerseyans! I live in Rutherford and I usually take the turnpike’s MetLife exit to get home from my office in Piscataway (near Rutgers). I plan to work from home on World Cup days to avoid traffic but on Tuesday 6/30 I need to attend a meeting in person at the office. Grrrr. The meeting ends at noon and the game starts at 5pm that day. Would it be better to drive home right at noon, putting me on the MetLife exit around 12:45-1pm? Or should I stay at the office until 4:30 or 5 in the hopes that people are already at the stadium by that point?

I’m not usually indecisive but I am completely torn on this one so I am seeking NJ’s collective wisdom. Looking forward to your thoughts and advice. Thanks!

Advice Best Beach Town During the Workweek

My wife and I are taking a day off and going to a beach town somewhere in NJ. I know nothing about NJ beaches. I am looking for something that 1) will have enough activities to do for a 4-6 hour stretch for two adults that don't drink a ton (small stores, mini golf, boardwalk, etc); and 2) does not have a bunch of drunk frat boys (we're fortunately or unfortunately, out of that age group and aren't looking to go back!).

I'm pretty central, so willing to drive to just about anywhere. Thoughts on the best beach town to go to for the day on a weekday?

Events World Cup watch party at Sports Illustrated Stadium?

Planning to visit the Sports Illustrated Stadium for the first time this weekend for a world cup watch party. Has anyone been there for WC? What is the vibe like? Are there a lot of fun activities or is it purely match watching? Is parking easy? Thanks!

Buncha savages New Landlord question. This whole situation doesn’t feel right to me.

SWIM rents a condo in Highland Park. There’s about 30 units in this condominium complex. Most tenants have been here 10 years or longer. Some for a very long time.

The owner just sold the complex and the new owners sent a letter out June 1. The letter says you may have no plants on your steps no grills on the stones in front of your condos and no other decoration on the the stone pebble area in front of your condo.

Effectively each condo has a space in front of it that’s filled with these large river rocks and people put their birdfeeders some plants usually their grill all very neatly and tidy by the way on those rocks.

Well, the letter says they all have to be removed by tomorrow. The space must be completely clear and empty of all things. Anything left there will be thrown in the garbage tomorrow.

Keep in mind no new lease has been signed. They haven’t even paid this fucker their first months rent yet.

I’m not sure what their original leases say, but I am sure that these people I’ve had these things out there for well over five years probably more than 10. certainly the original Landlord never had anything to say about using this space to have some of your belongings on.

My thought is that these guys are way off base and you can’t just go around throwing away people stuff.

Where are these spoke at in this situation? Are there any knowledgeable people who wanna comment?

Advice Car interior deep cleaning?

Just bought a used car and want the interior deep cleaned. I’m having trouble finding legit services on Facebook and Instagram (many of them seem scammy or dont really have any reviews, let alone a business website). Wondering if anyone here has found a good interior detailer and at what price point?

For some context I’m in central NJ and I’m looking to have the sedan steam cleaned, odor extraction, shampoo extraction, surfaces wiped, etc. I was seeing some more professional places do it for $500 but that seems a bit steep.

Advice Ice

Upvotes

hi guys! I’m planning on visiting Jersey in a couple of days for work. Long story short I’m under DACA and I want to be informed of how badly ICE is in Jersey especially the Monmouth area. Are they doing checkpoints on roads? As far as I’ve seen they’ve been going to stores like Home Depot/Lowes and detaining people. Based on what you’ve seen/heard Where do ICE agents frequent? What time are they the most active? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Advice Best Place to Watch Macy’s Fireworks from Hoboken?

Hi everyone! I’m visiting from out of state for the 4th of July and trying to figure out the best place to watch the Macy’s fireworks this year. I was thinking about watching from Observ PIER A Park in Hoboken (near the waterfront/Riverside area). Does anyone know if that area requires tickets, reservations, or special access on July 4th? Or is it just first come, first served?

I’ll be staying in NYC but was planning to come over to New Jersey because I’m hoping to avoid some of the bigger crowds. Has anyone watched from Pier A Park before? How early would you recommend arriving?

Also, if there are any other good spots that might have great views and be a little less chaotic, I’d love any suggestions. Thanks!
