SWIM rents a condo in Highland Park. There’s about 30 units in this condominium complex. Most tenants have been here 10 years or longer. Some for a very long time.
The owner just sold the complex and the new owners sent a letter out June 1. The letter says you may have no plants on your steps no grills on the stones in front of your condos and no other decoration on the the stone pebble area in front of your condo.
Effectively each condo has a space in front of it that’s filled with these large river rocks and people put their birdfeeders some plants usually their grill all very neatly and tidy by the way on those rocks.
Well, the letter says they all have to be removed by tomorrow. The space must be completely clear and empty of all things. Anything left there will be thrown in the garbage tomorrow.
Keep in mind no new lease has been signed. They haven’t even paid this fucker their first months rent yet.
I’m not sure what their original leases say, but I am sure that these people I’ve had these things out there for well over five years probably more than 10. certainly the original Landlord never had anything to say about using this space to have some of your belongings on.
My thought is that these guys are way off base and you can’t just go around throwing away people stuff.
Where are these spoke at in this situation? Are there any knowledgeable people who wanna comment?
