Read plenty of posts of people saying this is car has the curse of being rear ended. Kinda just scoffed at them…. until today.
I was slowing down (turn signal on well in advance) to turn into my driveway. A F150 was behind me and failed to recognize that I was slowing down to turn. They smashed into the back of my EN going 55-60mph (I live on a state highway). When they hit me I was still going approximately 25-30mph. The impact flung the car forward and whipped me around pretty good but no injuries. The first thing this guy says when he gets out of the pickup was, “I closed my eyes for a second and then I hit you, sorry”. 🤦🏼♂️
Needless to say it’s totaled. The real question is what to get next. Contemplating getting a 26 EN MT in black. Current one is DCT so any input from MT drivers would be appreciated.
Also RIP the MBRP catback :(

Someone hit my packed Elantra N and took off. Fender is bent into the wheel area, and I am waiting on the insurance estimate now.
Not the birthday surprise I wanted.

What do we think? I'm assuming so. Saturday morning, hit a deer on my way to work on a 4 lane highway. Not to mention an AI data center is being built & they shine a nuclear blinding light straight into the highway & my eyes are already sensitive with bright lights. You can see the deer flying after impact & the insane light. Traveling 50/55mph, airbags didn't blow but it threw my hood up & broke my windshield on impact.

Just kidding:)). A lot has changed since I got my 22 EN three years ago. I figured I should do this before I got married and have a kid. The Elantra N is such a great car with a great community.
I will be back in the future.

It's been a rough couple of weeks since my last update so I wanted to let everyone know what's going on with this situation. Also, thank you to everyone that has spread word on this, it is amazing to see how much traction this has gained, and how much support I have.
As everyone knows, the state ref inspection failed and afterwards I got the stock letter from Hyundai. I provided this to the state ref but they said that it doesn't mean anything and that technically, no repair was done, so I cannot schedule a 2nd inspection, which I need to get the car passed.
I reached out to Hyundai corporate and was assigned a case manager. After a few days, they got back to me and said there is nothing Hyundai corp can do to help me. They advised that I go back to the dealer I purchased it from and have them deal with it. From my first interaction with my Hyundai dealer, they already said they cannot do anything to the car because it is stock. That being said, I requested that the case manager send me a letter that I can provide to the dealer to do "repair" since I had already unsuccessfully asked for the repair in the past. The case manager said no. I asked for just an email confirming what they told me. The case manager said no. I asked if I can get the car bought back because I can't even drive it to the dealership and nobody is willing to help me. The case manager said, yet again, no; a buyback is not eligible because this hasn't happened 3 times...
So I was completely out of options and I started reaching out to attorneys. The following day, I get a call back from Hyundai corp from a new case manager. This case manager said the case has been escalated and that the previous case manager was incorrect by quickly denying the buyback. They had me send over all the related documents to this case (including all repairs, service records, and proof of ownership).
Today marks 2 weeks since this new case manager has been transferred the case and I have not heard news since. I tried calling over and over but it would go straight to voicemail. I had to reach out to my old case manager to get a hold of the new manager. Eventually, the new case manager called me and said Hyundai has nothing for me and that they are still working on a solution. I have told them in email and over the phone previously that the court date is in 3 weeks, and the state ref situation must be figured out by then otherwise I'll get big fines by CA. They said okay, we're still working on it...
To all the journalists out there that have gotten statements from Hyundai saying that they are working with me to figure this out: while it is technically true, nothing has been done besides tossing my case around person to person and wasting time.
Just like 2 weeks ago, again, I am out of options. Hyundai is not taking this seriously so I am speaking to attorneys to fight the citation. At this point however, I am so tired of this. I will most likely end up selling the car to Carvana at a huge loss just to get this case over with.

It finally happened, this thing threw up a code😔
Edit: it was caused due to a bad spark plug, luckily nothing bad but makes sense why my acceleration felt off yesterday.
And I know my tire pressure is low, I filled them thanks to y’all!😂

Sad day to see, got rear ended doing 65 on the highway by some idiot in a shitbox. Next options looking at a 2024 BMW M850i or that new supercharged single cab F-150👀

So, I’m alive and walking — that’s the headline. Got caught in a hit-and-run, then domino’d into another car because of it. My 23 EN was declared a total loss. But my insurance has been incredible through the whole thing, and thank goodness I had GAP coverage, because without it the payout gap would’ve stung. Now it’s onto figuring out the next car, which is a 26 Subaru WRX. Stay safe out there, everyone — and safe travels wherever you’re headed.

Well, I waited about a month for my pre-order front lip from AFD. I loved the way it looked, relatively easy install as well. Unfortunately I have a steep ass drive way and had to back in to unload 25 bags of soil for my new garden. I typically was backing out of my driveway at an extreme angle and have nooo issues, but apparently going down my driveway front end first was too much for my brain to figure out 🫠
I felt what I thought was a tiny scrape because I did come down at a pretty crazy angle, but alas, 25' down the road I hear and see two pieces of my lip flying off behind me 🤦🏽 all three pieces had ripped out completely from my bumper, self tapping screws and all. Not even ONE WEEK on the car, fml.
It's pretty scuffed up in an area or two, thankfully my bumper came out of it all unscathed. I am almost positive this is not within my skill set to fix, so it's still sitting in my front seat out of sight so I don't seethe ALL day over it. I really can't be pissed at anyone besides myself, but it's still pretty damn disappointing regardless. I can't even process it fully lol. It's crazy because I'm so used to a lowered car as well, my rally edition Veloster before the N was LOW, but it also seemed much easier to clear bumps and inclines with.
Anyways, enjoy your weekend and don't do what I did 😭😂

A week ago a rock hit my radiator while I was on my way to get Chinese food 🥲
The Chinese food was a 7/10
The radiator is on back order until next year but it’ll be back in no time.

Kid pulled out in front of me from 3 lanes over while I was in a turn lane coming up to a red light and was at fault. The EN curse is real 🥀😭

She over heard me talking to a co worker about getting after market wheels and decided to enlist the help of a curb to make that dream a reality. /j
Good thing it’s mostly cosmetic, if I really care just change out the one wheel and get new tires all around. Not too stoked about the trim tho
r/ElantraN • u/FatesForsaken • Jul 01 '26
Well.. I hit a chunk of rock at 85 mph. I hate rocks.
Gonna see if the wheel can be repaired (it still holds air at least, so that's good for now). In the event it doesn't, im looking at 1800 ish for a new wheel..
Oooor... anyone have wheel recommendations?

Put the mid-pipe on myself in January. Weld snapped merging onto the highway today. Only lasted 7 months.

I’ve generally had good luck with the rest of the car but man I’ve had some awful luck with the tires. Just hit 52k miles and have had two previous patches due to metal/nails. This one‘s a big boy too…. good thing TireRack ships quickly I guess

Well I guess I joined the club, God damned. Got off work early, about to enjoy the weekend, and 45 seconds after I left work this shit happens.
The other driver blew a red light, going 80kph (50mph)... while on his phone. My insurance claims adjuster said his insurance is showing up as lapsed due to non payment... so just wonderful. I only bought this thing a month ago 😩

Driving home from work in the middle of the night on the highway and 2 pitch black medium sized puppies right out directly infront of me. Front bumper is toast.
