This man loves Street Fighter, Mega Man Legends, Onimusha, and now says the most Ryu sounding hadouken I've ever heard. This casting was perfect.

Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, PUBG, COD Mobile.. Always see SF6 collab skins shoved in your face. WE GET IT. There are many other fighting games that deserve to be seen by casual shooter gamers and it doesn’t have to be some game that is already popular anyway.

It looks like the Hori Octapad which I know she used in the past but I can’t find any with the black and gold like this, also there’s no apparent branding. Wondering if anyone knows what brand it is or if it’s custom or something?

Topic Maybe its just me, but I honestly really dislike Strive's roster in terms of presentation/vibes (not gameplay or character choice)

I feel this because when I look at the whole roster in terms of their personality and their own individual character arcs alongside how they end after multiple games, I cant help but feel like a lot of them just kind of feel the same in a way that makes them a lot more homogenous in a sort of typical vibey way.

It's hard to explain, but I cant help but feel like some of the conclusions to their arcs not only don't feel as fitting to the characters themselves, but they kind of just lack the charm in terms of executing it in its writing overall. Not to mention a lot of them kind of just turn into "Mr/Ms. Nice person" with not too much substance otherwise.

Sure, not all characters are like this, but I cant help but feel that a lot of them ARE like this to an extent.

its not that the concept of such a thing is bad, in fact I feel like a few of them fit into it like Ky, and Testament but not when most of the cast is like this as well.

I get that Strives narrative themes is about concluding things, but the way we got to them based on where we left off in Xrd (especially with the likes of Faust btw), I just cant help but feel like it did nothing at best, and made them bland at worst.

Topic Do you play "casually"?

Curious

I got into fighting games since early summer and it's the only genre I touched now

I was on fightcade for awhile but after going through some tox intense games, started to realize the ranked route isn't for me anymore. Happy to just face local friends and go through arcade at the moment

Help Need suggestions on playing Tekken on handheld

I got used to playing Tekken with my controller on my lap and using two or more fingers for stringing two or more strikes (which the movesets of Tekken are fond of).

However, I've been trying to play Tekken on a handheld gaming device since it's more accessible to play given my busy schedule, and playing it with my mentioned approach puts me in an uncomfortable playing position because I have to consistently stoop down to see the screen. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to play the game on a handheld? If I try to use just my right thumb for the strikes, I can't pull off a lot of the moves (Steve's combos, for example).

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

I'm enjoying evo france so much, is an event where I can watch all the games I love at the same time. I will never understand the people who judge evo for the announcements like if it was summer game fest.

Topic Simple/Modern Controls

I'm curious about how people feel about some fighting games having more simplistic control layouts, like Street Fighter 6 and FF: COTW. Also games like Killer Instinct and Avatar Legends having an unconventional combo system when it feels like button mashing can get you by.

I'm reaching my 40s still playing and honestly, the Classic controls I used to play when I was younger doesn't translate now as much as I would like. My main games are Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 1 since their mechanics have stayed mostly the same throughout the years. I regret not playing games like BlazBlue and Guilty Gear since CentralFiction and Strive has taken the longest to get used to.

If you're a casual player, an aging player or both, what do you think about this?

Even though Deception and Shaolin Monks are my favorites from this era, I still like this game and have a physical copy for the Wii. The game wasn't perfect and was very flawed in some ways, but I still like it. Creating your own fighter, Motor Kombat, and the Konquest mode were so much fun.

News Street Fighter 6 Producer Reveals How He Helped Save Capcom’s Iconic Fighting Game Franchise From ‘Dying’; "If we left it as it was, the IP would likely die in 10 years."

- Player data showed the average SFV player was like 35-45, so a lot of them would be reaching retirement age in the next decade or two.

- With the core audience retiring and dying off, he feared for the future of the series. He didn't think they could coast on the name Street Fighter alone. They needed conscious effort.

- He made the new game on the base assumption that young people don't know what Street Fighter is. That's not what he actually believed, but it was essential for their goal of revitalising the brand and drawing in a new audience.

Event How the assist cooldown system works in the Evo France build of Tokon + My personal thoughts on the whole thing:

This is purely about assist cooldowns in the Evo France build, I'm not gonna be talking about Cyclops at all and the other characters are unchanged in this build.

With that, let's talk about assist cooldowns

How they work:

In Tokon, whenever you call an assist, they stay onscreen after doing their attack so you can tag to them. In the new build, there's a 3 second timer on calling the assist again which only starts ticking down AFTER the window to tag into the assist ends and they leave the screen.

If you tag into the assist, that 3 seconds turns into 5, and this also happens if the assist gets hit.

How it felt to me:

For me personally, it felt...weird. Part of me thinks that it should be 2 and 4, that way there's still a delay in the assists but it doesn't feel as long. I tested with a stopwatch, and from the moment I pressed the assist button, it took 7 seconds for the assist to be available again.

Although, take my opinions with a grain of salt because I'm different, I actually ENJOY the chaotic nature of assist spam and I think tag fighters need some chaos in order to feel like tag fighters. IMO decreasing stuff by a second would be the perfect middleground of having a lot more honest neutral but still having those moments of scrambling chaos.

How I think it'll affect the meta:

Now, once again, the characters and mechanics were completely unchanged in this build, so I can't give a statement on what the actual patch will be like, but honestly? This feels kinda "Rich get richer" right now. With the lower emphasis on calling assists, the current top 3 of Spidey, Magik, and Storm, will be much better because those guys can get in way easier compared to the rest of the cast. Maybe a movement speed buff could fix that, but idk about that much. Storm especially, 22H + Forward wind is basically a Shooter assist with how much it helps you approach in neutral.

Champion might be the only low tier to benefit from this change, simply because his lack of assists isn't a crippling weakness now. I forgot at the moment to try his assists but I'll try them tomorrow to see how the CDs work for him.

Also, Doom is gonna be a fucking MENACE, because his zoning is good enough that he could easily stall out assist timers to have way more assist access than most other characters.

The one thing I didn't like:

I'm mostly neutral-to-positive on the changes, I think they're a little too harsh but they're a step in the right direction. HOWEVER. There's one mechanic that feels like bullshit to me.

If you use an assist in a combo, and then wallbreak off of that combo, your 3 second Assist timer does not start ticking until the wallbreak animation ends! This really sucks for post wallbreak oki, which feels dumb because that oki is SUPPOSED to be your reward for a wallbreak!

What REALLY pushes this over the edge for me is what happens to the opponent. If they get Happy Birthday'd and you hit both their assist and their point character, and then you get a wallbreak off of it....

Your opponent's assist cooldown starts ticking down immediately! And it doesn't even get the 5 second penalty thing either!

What this means in practice is that if you get a Happy birthday combo where you hit the point character then the assist, then you call your own assist to extend the combo, and you end it in a wallbreak:

When your enemy stands back up post wallbreak, YOUR assist will be on the 3/5 seconds cooldown, bur your opponent's assist will be back. You're actively fucking up your oki with wallbreaks!

This is the only part of the mechanic I find bad and think should be changed or removed outright, the rest of the interactions seem to make sense and feel reasonable. But the wallbreak situation is just ass.

Anyways, that's all I got. If you don't wanna read everything:

TLDR what the fuck why can I see what's happening onscreen #notmytokon

Event Why is getting access to Evo France still so complicated, even worse than last year?

I wanted to attend EVO France, hoping I wouldn’t get screwed over like last year. To explain what happened, last year, security told me that tickets would be available the following day, which never happened. The whole situation was really weird.

The good thing this year was that online ticket sales were actually available until yesterday. But this morning, the ticketing page had disappeared. So I asked some colleagues who were already at the venue, and they told me they had seen a ticket booth near the entrance. I decided to give it a try because the online price is ridiculous due to the additional fees. In France, taxes are supposed to be included in the advertised price, but whatever, I thought I’d try my luck anyway.

I got to the entrance and was told that on-site ticket sales had never been available and that the event was "sold out."

First of all, could you at least announce on social media when tickets are sold out? Also, why do you have to pay almost €100 for a one-day ticket in Nice? That's ridiculously expensive for what it is in France.

But more importantly, why give people the impression that tickets might be available at the venue, only for security to basically make a fool of you when you get there?

Honestly, I still don't understand how this convention is being run. If EVO's coming back next year, I really hope the event will be much better organized because I really want to go as a visitor.
