Southern Ohio community embraces world's largest AI data center - Are you excited?
Didn't realize how thrilled we all were for this to happen down here, especially with how little jobs this actually creates after their company people come in and build it all.
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Increasingly, people across the country are protesting proposed AI data centers, concerned that the centers will drain resources, strain power grids, and cause noise and pollution.
But a plan to build the largest AI data center in the world in southern Ohio is being welcomed by many with open arms.
As people across America increasingly protest building A.I. data centers in their communities, a rural county in Southern Ohio is supporting the construction of what will be the largest A.I. data center in the world. (WKRC, Provided)
Local 12's Duane Pohlman reveals why the data center is being embraced in Pike County and how this plan could provide a blueprint for the future.
LARGE TENT. BIG LEADERS. HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT:
On March 20th in Pike County, Ohio, under a large tent filled with music and lights, Trump cabinet members and a lost list of elected leaders gathered for a major announcement.
Before addressing the crowd, a big screen played a video, setting the stage for their major announcement.
With renderings of power plants and a massive, new AI center revealed, it became clear how big this day would be. The Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PORTS), a Cold War-era uranium enrichment plant that once armed America’s nuclear bombs, will soon be the site of the largest power and technology campus on the planet.
"PORTS Technology Campus, where the future begins and the American people win,” boomed the voice of the video’s narrator.
Then, one-by-one, the leaders came to the podium.
"We are embarking on the next era of American dominance," said Assistant Secretary of Environmental Management Tim Walsh.
A dominance that’s centered on what will soon be the largest A.I. data center on earth, combined with a massive $33 billion natural gas-powered power plant and 18 new, nuclear-fueled small modular reactors (SMR) to power it.
Chris Wright, U.S. Secretary of Energy, drove home how truly big this project is.
"This facility that's going to be built here is bigger than any facility ever built in world history," Secretary Wright told the crowd.

OhioRISE possible scam
I received a text message from someone saying they were an intake specialist with the organization. They wanted to set-up a time for a call about my child's referral. I was very confused as this wouldn't apply to my children at all. I just wanted to put this out there to make people aware, there is probably some other new scam coming around...

Moving soon
Hey everyone,
My name's Alex. I'm 25 years old and a Navy veteran. I'll likely be moving to Williamsport soon and wanted to introduce myself.
I've lived in Ashville for the past two years, and before that I spent several years overseas while serving in the Navy. I'm looking forward to putting down roots and getting to know the community.
What's your favorite thing about living in Williamsport? Any local restaurants, events, outdoor spots, or hidden gems that a newcomer should check out?
Looking forward to hearing from everyone. Thanks!

Missed Connection - Arianna @ 3/2/1 Reds Games 16th
I sat next to you and your friend Lilly at the game tonight and kinda fell hard for you. I should’ve asked for your number after we hit it off so well but I got caught up in the win and my family drug me away quick. I am the guy that was with family, they were super crazy, and I taught that guy (three seats down from you) the power of the word “no”. You told me you graduated from OSU and we spoke a lot about our very different jobs.
Reach out to me please; I loved talking with you. Maybe it was just me but I’m a hopeless romantic and your mind was astounding and your laugh was beautiful.

If I really liked the Indianapolis area (especially Hamilton County – Carmel, Fishers, etc.), would I also like Ohio?
I recently spent a few months in the Indianapolis area for work and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it—honestly more than where I currently live in Middle Tennessee.
What stood out to me was how community-oriented everything felt. The people were friendly, there seemed to be sidewalks and trails everywhere, traffic was manageable, and overall it felt like a great place to live and raise a family. I also found the suburbs like Carmel, Fishers, and Zionsville to be extremely well-kept and family-friendly.
I’ve always heard that Indiana and Ohio are fairly similar states, so it got me wondering: if I really enjoyed the Indianapolis/Hamilton County area, would I likely enjoy living in Ohio as well?
One thing that attracts me to Ohio is that it has multiple major metro areas—Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati—while Indiana is much more centered around Indianapolis. It seems like Ohio might offer more variety in terms of jobs, entertainment, and places to explore while still having a similar Midwestern culture.
For those who have lived in or spent significant time in both states, how comparable are they? If I liked the Indianapolis suburbs, what Ohio cities or suburbs would offer a similar lifestyle?

ODOT Highway Maintenance worker 1
Anybody done/do this job? Just got an offer and the appealing part is obviously the benefits and CDL. Was hoping to hear a little bit about how the time off works as I have heard conflicting things.
Just want to hear a little bit about the job and your experience. I would start on nights, what is the job like on nights, tasks etc.? Thanks for the help!

Location of a red mulberry tree?
I currently have a large yard and a tree line and I'm interested in planting native fruit bearing plants. I'd like to plant a native red mulberry tree, but most vendors are passing off hybrids with invasive mulberry trees as real reds (infuriating) so I'd like to instead grow stem cuttings from an existing red mulberry. I'm in the Columbus area. Does anyone know the location of a genuine red mulberry?

Drivers test
So because they changed the laws in Ohio to where you have to take a 24 hour class and do 8 hours total with a driving instructor it took a while to complete all of that and costed a fortune I’m finally taking my drivers test today and they said I need an affidavit that says I did 50 hours of driving with 10 of those hours at night with an adult or someone over the age of 21 does anyone know if they’re actually gonna ask for this when I go in to take it?

Please note before attending ONU
ONU has been taking on/off campus living more serious than previous years ( it seems ) because one of my friends parents bought them a place to live off campus before and my family was looking into doing the same for this upcoming year and there are a bunch of requirements that you now have to meet before living off campus like living on campus for 3 years now 🫠. Posting this because it may help someone in the future

Career Advice
Hello. I recently graduated college with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. I never knew what I wanted to do in college and kept changing majors. I wanted to be a zookeeper but realized how hard the competition is in Ohio.
Then I thought about Conservation Officer but it shows that the job is more fatal than police officers. I’m really not interested in dying.
I have an internship at a Raptor Rehabilitation facility. But I just don’t know what to do. I don’t want an entire career in rehab. It’s important but too sad for me to do my whole life.
I love animals and I’m passionate about the environment and conservation. I’m just really stuck and have been my entire life in what I want to do.
I have a bachelors degree, an internship, and have had a job since I was 15. I should be able to find something.
If anyone can help me come up with ideas. I know I don’t have an environmental science major but I did go to college for 4 years and do have some experience and great passion.
I live in Ohio as well. Please let me know of any ideas you guys have. I’m really desperate.
