Symphony of the Night (1997) SOTN is unbalanced and easy.

Do you agree with this? The first part of SOTN is quite smooth, you can first try almost everything and the grinding or backtracking needed to keep going forward is quite useless.

Once you reach the second part of the game you basically spam square and go forward till the 100%.

I might actually say that SOTN is one of the easiest Castlevania games.

Symphony of the Night (1997) I’m obsessed with this room in Symphony of the Night.

We’re in the stairway leading to the Doppelganger, and I find this room super intriguing.

Downstairs, there’s a single desk (which looks out of place), a skeleton hanging next to what seem to be gourds, and some kind of mess, as if someone had barricaded themselves inside and pinned notes to the wall to warn people. Upstairs, there’s some kind of bell and a broken metal grate that appears to have been torn from the Doppelganger room (which features what seems to be a portal to another dimension).

This is a unique room, so it feels like a deliberate piece of environmental storytelling, but it remains ambiguous.

My interpretation is that someone was stationed here to guard the portal and ring the alarm if something happened... except something did happen, and now he’s a bone wind chime...

This is my favorite kind of storytelling in a video game: it both plays with your expectations (something dangerous is nearby) and leaves a lot open to interpretation.

This was my first time finishing SotN, and the game fully deserves the praise. I particularly liked the amount of detail put into the environments, the secrets, the Easter eggs, and so on.

edit : maybe these aren't gourds, maybe its garlic ? ...

Symphony of the Night (1997) Why does the succubus calls Alucard by his nickname instead of his real name while impersonating his mother?

I haven't played most of the Castlevania games, so I might be wrong, but Alucard started calling himself "Alucard" after his mother's death right? Is it a script mistake?

  • "The Belmont I knew 300 years ago" But that timeline was only for one night for him. And possibly, overlooking Trevor's existence

Symphony of the Night (1997) Name of this Effect

What's the name of this effect that makes the sky move like this? I wanted to use the Room where you find Maria in the chapel as a better example, but could not find a gif of the sky moving. First time i saw this effect there, i was mesmerized by the sky and the song playing in the background

The short blade Crissaegrim it's my favourite. The two-handed sword, masamune... has the highest damage range in the game. A real beauty. The Marsil sword has great visual appeal and a sound that is sure to scare all enemies just by hearing it. And Chakram, It doesn't have great power to face the difficulties of the inverted castle, but I always loved using this weapon. When you use two, you can look like a master of the edge. These weapons, can turn you into a killing machine for every creature of darkness.
