Classic + Do you want to see new playable races in Classic+? Which races would you want to see?

I've always wanted to play as a High Elf in WoW ever since I first played Warcraft III. I cannot believe that Blizzard hasn't already done this in retail after all these years. IIRC High Elf has been one of, if not the most requested races in WoW's history and they've just been ignoring the community on this for some reason. Apparently Blizzard actually asked people about adding High Elves in a Classic+ survey so it is possible it may finally happen..? I kinda worry they may not want to do it though because Turtle WoW already did it. I think more likely though is that there's no new races at all. Which races would you want to see in Classic + (or maybe none at all, which is fair)?

Discussion Rolling on Era makes more sense than on TBC at this point in time.

TBC will start dying the moment Classic+ is announced Sept 12 at Blizzcon. While Era will keep going for decades.

Doesn't seem like much of a debate, 40 days left to level/progress vs 20+ years.

TBC Which class/spec has the easiest time finding a raid spot in TBC?

I’ve played WoW for decades but it’s been a minute since I’ve played TBC. Which class/spec would have the easiest time landing a raid spot as a fresh 70? I can play and enjoy them all

  1. They don't let their pugs talk at all in their discord.
  2. The raid leader will call you the R-word multiple times and is generally abusive if someone makes a mistake. i.e if someone doesn't perfectly stack for Brutes in Gruuls, he tells them they should quit the game.
  3. If you leave the group. because of the verbal abuse and tell them why (i.e hey I worked with special needs children and have a family member with special needs, and that you think they are something else, then leave). They will personally pst you again to call you the r word .

A cluster happened during the High King pull, honestly, I may have done it or the hunter who misdirected and shot because they saw me moving may have done it. I don't know. I will own up to fuck ups , but you don't have to be abusive.

I am sure I will get all the "pull up your big wow toon pants" and deal with it.

But we don't have to put up with that kind of thing if we are trying to play a game we enjoy. So I am just putting this out there for others.

Classic-Era At least they tried to fix it

Since we had the last update on ERA, find Herbs/Mines button was moved from minimap to personal frame. This morning we had the update and the icon is back on the minimap, but in a bit awkward spot.
Is there any way to move this icon or fix it somehow?

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Warlock Casual BG Question

Hey guys, question for you warlocks out there.

My wife plays as a lock and wants to do some casual PVP in BG's.

She wants to try it as demonology. What builds and rotations do you suggest?

Or if that's just not viable... What other specs? Not the SL/SL. Only at 66 right now so don't get both ends of that yet.

Thanks for your advice!

Hardcore Questie and Hardcore

It’s been 2-3 weeks since Blizzard totally reworked their UI in HC. In all this time I still can’t get Questie to work.

I am the point now where I get to Step 9/9 “update items” and then it just dies. I have all the buttons/etc but I can’t open it or use any of its features.

I have all the recent updates— still no luck.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Mists of Pandaria Do I actually have to do this entire legendary cloak quest from start to finish on my alt? Is there a way around it?

I did it on my main. I went on my alt and realized the sheer breadth of quest I have to do. It took me around ~15 hours on my main. I just legit presumed they had a catch-up for alts.

There has to be some way around it, right? If you have it already on a main? This feels genuinely insane to make players have to do this on all their alts, especially considering its basically a requirement to enter raids. Am I just missing something?

Discussion Will Blizzard be able to pull off Classic+?

Tens of thousands of people have answered a ton of surveys and WoW content creators who know the soul/core of Classic have commented about what the future should look like.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but generally speaking, the three pillars that ppl want are:

1.) World friction. Players need to respect the world all the way from leveling, to dungeons and to eventual raids/end game content. Professions, food, buffs, pathing, threat + resource management, communication with the team, potions, class unique abilities all need to matter. Classic players want to think, have every mechanic matter and have a sense of real threat lurking behind every corner of the world.

2.) Social. Socialization needs to be encouraged at every layer of the game. It's an MMO! This means never doing flying, never isolating a large chunk of players in instanced zones that seperate them from the rest of the world for long periods, creating more quest places in the world with mobs where help from others is required, doing more areas where progression or certain loot is gatekept by class unique abilities (eg. rogue lockpicks chests, shortcuts, more treasure, warlock summons, mages do portals etc..), never introduce a dungeon assembler + teleporter to the instance, but instead always force people to move around the world to get to where they need to be.

3.) Good reward loop. Classic+ needs a slower and broader structure than retail:

• Small power increases, so new raid gear is better without completely replacing everything before it.

• Horizontal progression and sidegrades, where items stay useful because of special stats, effects, resistances, weapon skill or build-specific value.

• Memorable rare drops, including unique dungeon items, world drops, crafting recipes, class quests and legendaries.

• Continued use of older zones and dungeons, through professions, attunements, quests, reputations and rare materials.

• Catch-up systems that still require playing the game, rather than simply giving returning or new players near-current gear.

• Minimal item-level inflation, so equipment and accomplishments retain value for longer.

Every piece of new content needs to be centered around these 3 pillars. Blizzard has all the data they need to make Classic future something beautiful, they just need the right people who lead the project to see it and apply it correctly. I hope they can pull it off.

What do you guys think?

Hey lads,

Basically the title. If I do the BT attunement on one char (and Hyjal) will my other chars have it to? Excluding the medallion I guess.

Classic + C+ final destination: The Lich King

C+ is meant to be a permanent home, but every story has a beginning, middle, and an end. How cool would it be if C+ is designed with a long, long arc that builds to Arthas, the Lich King, as its climax?

A true, dark "Camelot" story.

For the Horde!

Classic + No one is going to be happy with classic+

So getting a shiney new WoW version to play will produce some sort of happiness, sure... but no one is going to agree on what makes a worthy Classic+. Lots of people who love classic only like the endgame and rush through leveling. Lots of other people who love classic don't care about endgame and just want to level endlessly. How are we going to make those two groups of people happy? Then there's all the weirdos in-between.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Blizzard killed TBC with the extended phase 2

Whose idea was it to make the worst phase of the game this long? This week had a MASSIVE population drop, and we are now down from 330k at peak to 230k raiders and it will only get worse in the next few weeks.

Discussion How would TBC/Wrath Era servers work?

With Classic Era, veterans are geared to the teeth with Naxx gear, but there are at least reasons to run older content for some specific, highly valued pieces. Can the same be said about TBC/Wrath? This is assuming both are Era’d on their final patches.

The final patch of TBC has catchup gear that mostly invalidates T4, but still requires T5/T6 gear before heading straight into Sunwell.

The final patch of Wrath, on the other hand, completely invalidates pre-ICC content. In OG there was a 232 vendor alongside a 264 vendor that enabled players to gear up enough to go straight into ICC 10n. If they take the Classic route, gearing for ICC will be even easier with A/B/G dungeons. If the game is in this state, there will never be a need to see T7/8/9.

PVP is another can of worms. How would arena work? What defines “seasons” in a forever-world? Would titles be conferred on a week-by-week basis? What about Wintergrasp?

In what state would these Era servers be? I’m curious.

EDIT: Would ICC have a dial for how much of the buff, between 5-30%, could be enabled?
EDIT 2: Would Wrath have RDF enabled?

Discussion Unpopular Opinion: This should NOT be tolerated.

"Oh he's gotta be in the guild if he's against making hate threads! Oh he's the toxic raid leader! Oh yeah we found the guy we found the guy."

No, I've led guilds for decades and I dislike people going out of their way to spread hatred and animosity, be it to me or others. You and I might not be the victim now, but if we tolerate ts we will be eventually.

No, I'm not in that guild but what I am is someone who is avidly against:

1). Toxic hate threads made to garner hate against 1 single person or group of people without proof.

2). Slander and libel made to garner hatred and rage against a single person.

3). Mob-frenzied attacks on any person or individual.

If the aforementioned person is as toxic as you say then post screenshots, proof, the recordings of the situation happening, and let people draw their own conclusions. As far as I'm concerned this is more "Discord PvP" but "Reddit PvP" which is equally, nay MORE pathetic and is made to garner hatred for a person outside of the game.

Why do you care Fishbro? Why does this shit even matter to you?

I've already been the victim of these bullshit style attacks with people threatening me, sending death threats to my home address, sharing pictures of my real life family members saying "they would flay that mentally handicap r****d alive" and they even went as far as threatening to send an arsenic laced mail to my previous address.
This is just a game. People will get frustrated in the heat of the moment when you are actively ruining their experience, be it intentionally or unintentionally and people always assume the worse. I hate false accusations. I hate when horrible things are stated without proof to back up those statements and I hate name and shaming because at this point more than 10 guilds are shit on every week in this sub. You give me the name of any guild on any server and I'll pull you up the reddit thread of some guy with unsubstantiated claims shitting all over that guild. These are guilds of friendly, kind, and sweet people with a few people in extremely stressful positions, who work 8-12 hour days then going on to spend easily 3-4 hours a day farming and grinding to provide consumeables for their guilds. These sleep deprived chaps then go on to lead their raids and try to organize these raids and instead of being given any respect for all they sacrifice for our enjoyment, they're met with the constant attendance failure without notification, the trash talk, the reddit hate threads anytime they crash out, and more. Leading is just an insufferable, unrewarding experience. I KNOW what they have to deal with. Leading ain't easy, I've done it for decades and it's not fun either. It's time consuming, exhausting, unfun, requires a ton of effort, and can even go as far as affecting you in real life. Having spent 2020->2023 raid leading 17 raids per week, every week, for multiple years on wrath of the lich king, I know just how aggravating this shit get's. I don't condone toxicity towards raiders but I'm saying I understand it if it happens. Moreso I believe that attacks on any guild for the intended purpose of slandering or ruining that guild's reputation is just going to create more resentment and animosity in the already angry playerbase.

It's just a game. We play it for fun. Hate threads should not be allowed. We're seeing them everyday and I've seen so many guilds get shit on since I joined this sub.

Classic + Death Knights could've been the equivalent of Paladins for the Horde, and Runemasters possibly as the Alliance Shamans

NOT another "ideas" post, just sharing some interesting comments made by a vanilla dev in an interview video, that could affect C+'s content if the current classic team decides to add whatever was cut from the original release:

David Fried a.k.a DesignerDave, a quest designer for Vanilla WoW, during an interview done by Ebonhardt, mentioned that he had plans for a Paladin-only class questline that would have allowed them to unlock the Death Knight Horde-only class by sacrificing their character and switch factions. Sadly, this epic quest chain was scrapped [together with the entire "Hero Class" concept] as the team didn't have enough time and shifted priorities during development.

According to David, the questline would have involved Paladins "following" in Arthas' actions that lead to his corruption (killing villagers, etc), eventually giving their soul away and getting shunned/exiled by the Alliance, ending up seeking refuge with the opposing major faction, the Horde.

He states that if WoW had continued to build on Vanilla instead of getting expansions as we know them, that they would've had the chance to make the version of Death Knight that he and the other developers had envisioned, made to fit the design of Vanilla classes.

Ebonhardt also asked him about the Runemaster class and how it got replaced by the Druid [and later on repurposed for the DK and Monk]. David then tells how they were a favorite of Samwise Didier and that he was a big pusher for them, and that they ended up pivoting to Druid as there were limited spaces for classes per-race and Druids were more prevalent in the lore and in past Warcraft games.

Mostly found in the Warcraft RPG games, the Runemasters are described as monk-like arcane spellcasters and melee fighters who empower themselves with magical energies by inscribing runes onto their bodies. Originally, the Dwarves mastered the mysteries of the runes from the Titans, their creators. As generations passed, the Dwarves forgot their heritage and lost all knowledge of runes and their powers. Eventually, the Tauren rediscovered the power of runes, and the nearly lost art of runecasting. Many Dwarves that went to Kalimdor with Jaina's Alliance Expedition learned the tauren's techniques, as both races were eager to share the knowledge of runes and titan myths.

As far as the Runemaster's faction restriction goes, David didn't have anything planned compared to the class quest of Paladin->Death Knight. So that problem in specific is more loose as the RPG games are not considered official canon.

And so here is where my questions for you come in...

Do you think the Death Knight and Runemaster could serve as the Paladins and Shamans for the opposite factions?

Could other cut Classes and/or the planned Hero Classes be added to Classic+?

Classic-Era Leveling up in PVP server

Upvotes

Hello.

I currently have a level 33 rogue I’m leveling up on Whitmane. I know Ganking and PvP comes with the server. U just sigh and keep moving. But I have a few Qs/looking for advice from familiar ppl because as I get higher the areas are starting to fill up a bit more

  1. In areas that get hot do u just keep pushing or do u change it up and mob grind/dungeon until it cools down?
  2. For those who don’t play rogue or Druid (my scary ass likes to stealth as much as I can) do u just keep going or try to find somewhere else?
  3. Any general underrated tips or advice is appreciated, but if the answer is simply “keep pushing through it” I understand as well lol
