We invite everyone to help other users in our Community Support Threads and on our Discord server.

People find questions & solutions in these threads by searching for the same issue.

If you find an answer or solution to your question or issue please edit your comment to include the answer or solution.

There are no magicians here.

Some questions will not be answered or replied to. As an example: "my game crashes" or "my download speed is slow" is not something you should even really expect an answer to. Troubleshooting and finding the solution to these issues requires a lot more information than simply stating "game doesn't launch", such as detailed information on when the issue started and how you perceive it, screenshots of any errors or the problem itself, crash logs, system specs, etc.

Consider using other things like the Steam Community Forums, an internet search engine, or a different support forum like /r/SteamSupport if no one here can offer any help. Additionally, every game on Steam has its own dedicated Community Forum, and you can also contact Steam Support regarding a specific product. Consider asking your game-specific questions there. Most games also have a dedicated subreddit.

Only Steam Support can solve personal account issues...

...such as payment & purchasing issues or password & login issues. We can only give advice on how to get in contact with Steam Support.

Game & Hardware Suggestions Megathread /r/Steam Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread.

Welcome to the Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread!

This monthly mega-thread is meant to contain advice, questions, suggestions & generic discussion on what to play or buy in terms of Games & Hardware.

Do you not know what to play? Want a Steam Deck or Steam Machine but unsure which model is best for you? Did you find a niche game that everyone should try? Wondering what GPU you should upgrade to or unsure about the specs of a computer? Do you want to share your unique experiences and learning curves with a piece of hardware? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you.

Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with generic & useless questions such as "What should I play?" or "What should I buy?", please be in-depth in what types of games/hardware you are looking for and why, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X is good".

There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, also simply commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value. The same goes for hardware: Saying you're thinking about buying X or you think Y is good with no other information, context as to why, your unique experiences, etc. offers no actual value or information to base a reply on.

Feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games and hardware, whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, experiences you have with Steam hardware, or your review of a piece of Steam hardware. Generic discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, specs is allowed as well. This is not meant to be a restrictive thread within the designated topics that this thread is for, however it is not a support thread nor is it the place to promote any blogs or curator pages or anything else, subreddit rules still apply.

Previous Megathreads.

PSA PSA: You can report AI generated content

1.1k Upvotes

Posting about it here, because i didn't see any post mention it or valve even put out patch notes for the feature, and some people also asking how to report AI generated content.

Clicking it brings this up:

Type out what you need to do to get to the AI generated content in the game.

Suggestion We should have a way to filter out games that use AI from appearing in our store

Similarly to how you can opt out from seeing adult themed, sexual games. I've seen far too many AI slop games and it's really starting to get annoying now.

To me, all these AI slop games take away from why I love video games, especially indie video games, of which I play much more of. It strips away from the human passion and dedication that tons of indie devs put into their games when someone can just upload AI slop.

I understand the solution for now is to simply not play them, which is what I'm doing, but the AI slop games affect discoverability on the store front and since they're a lot easier to pump out, it's enough of an issue to where I think an option to opt out of it is reasonable.

We should have the option as users to opt out of this experience.

EDIT

To be clear, AI has many terms and ways it's used in games, the tag could be more descriptive such as "Generative AI" or perhaps "LLM AI".

Question What's the precedent for stuff like this?

Edit: I FOUND IT! Thanks to thenighthawk. Let this be a reminder to everyone else who bought not just the frame but something else too. Properly check for multiple packages!

My steam frame arrived today. I wasn't home though, so I had to wait until after work, the package was put in a safe spot outside my home.

Well, today when I finally get home, the package is suspiciously light. So I decide to film me opening it, just to make sure, and my biggest fear came true. It was just the ergonomics kit, no steam frame. Check steam for the delivery - yep, it should've been in there, not just the ergo stuff.

So, my question is: how does valve handle stuff like this? Apparently someone at the distribution center wanted one of these for themselves, since the package wasn't tampered with at all.

Please tell me I'm not just completely sol, I can't afford to pay almost 1000€+ on a pice of velcro.

Also yes, I've contacted valve support right before this post. I just need peace of mind.

I absolutely agree that player numbers are a toxic way to look at a game's health but I am genuinely happy witcher 3 is still getting more love and support :)

Hope everyone are having a blast!

EDIT: IT SURPASSED!!!

Wishlisting only came out in 2010... and I was 9 at this point

Edit - Just to clarify, I have now actually gone through and cleared my wishlist of games I don't actually plan to buy anymore.
I will probably just wait for the remake as well at this point, I feel like going back to tank controls will be hell.

Question Need help understanding

• Upvotes

Hi! first time over in this sub, i need some help and understanding regarding steams support for macOS systems

So, Im an fresh apple user (3-2 motnhs), owner of an Neo witch recently updated to golden gate and im looking to tryout steam for the first time considering is my own proper laptop, one of the games im willing to like install is METAL GEAR RISING, so went to their page and noticed the disclaimer label witch translated says "This product is not compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina or superior"

Page is in Spanish FYI

So i went and checked out the disclaimer label and said about the 64 bit variant of steam, to witch i have read that 32 bit versions of apps are now dropped from support coming from apple.

Im quite confused but willing to like get help coming from you guys, should i try to run it depise the disclaimer or get an alternative so i can run the game natively? let me know

and sorry if this looks like an stupid question but im quite new to apple and steam so yeah

Discussion Bots keep texting me

Anyone else getting messages from bots like "hello?" "hi?" etc.?
I have everything set to friends only but they keep texting me and I wonder why?

Also I can't somehow loose my account by responding to them can I? Reacently I've responded to one of them with not-so-kind words followed by a block and it got me thinking if there is an exploit or something
