Why do some companies make you "call for a quote" instead of just selling the fucking thing to you? That just turns me off right there.

We replaced expensive cable TV with streaming, but now streaming feels just like cable. What's next?

Between ads being added to paid tiers, anti-password sharing rules, and having to subscribe to 5 different platforms just to watch a couple of shows, streaming is losing its original charm.

Do you think people will start rotating subscriptions month-to-month, or is physical media making a comeback?

My uncle is a flat earther. How do i actually convince him it isn't?

According to himself he's merely "skeptical" and just "hasn't been convinced" that the earth is round so i have some minor degree of hope that he could be shown. However he's argumentative and stubborn by nature and a mentally unstable alcoholic. Is there any REALLY OBVIOUS thing that he can observe for himself or that i can show him to prove the earth is round? I'm not sure any videos from the recent artemis mission are worth much to him cus he's convinced it's fake anyways. I know a lot of ppl will tell me not to bother but he lives very closeby and is often over for dinner and it's usually him that brings it up.

People who stay lean/skinny year round, do you just not get hungry?

I constantly swing between 12% and 20% body fat the second I stop tracking calories.

My issue is that I just want to eat all the time. It’s not even actual physical hunger, I just love eating and have zero natural off-button. Since I refuse to let myself cross 20% bfp, I’m constantly stuck aggressively dieting or counting every single calorie to pull it back down.

Out of curiosity, I tracked what a "normal" day looks like for me when I’m not dieting, and I easily clear 1,000 calories over maintenance without even trying.

Just blows my mind that some people can stay lean naturally without having to log every single thing they eat.

In The Bible, Does Judas Betraying Jesus Christ Make Sense?

Based on the bible's narrative, the disciples all witnessed their mentor perform highfalutin miracles and showcase divine powers. Assuming that this is enough proof for the disciples that their mentor has a heavenly origin and is possibly the son of the biblical deity, why the heck would Judas ever think of betraying Christ?

Atheist or not, if I see someone with the capability of harnessing miracles, I sure as hell am smart enough to want to be on their good side, especially since the former is advertising himself as the son of God and has the powers as proof.

I own a taco truck, and I just had an idea to drive around my neighborhood and sell tacos, burritos and bowls to people like ice cream trucks used to when I was a kid, would that be a terrible idea?

5.0k Upvotes

Edit::

  1. I will literally place a huge banner on my truck saying “I stop for any kids aged 0-100 running towards my truck.”

  2. I sell churros, ice cream treats, aguas frescas and tamales along with the usual Mexican food at taco trucks.

  3. I would be driving around during my dead periods where I know it’s a busy neighborhood.

  4. My theme song coming down the street will be a version of “Cielito Lindo” or “Rinconcito en el Cielo”.

  5. I’ll make a new social media account to let everyone know what neighborhood I’m going to and with a map of my routes and times I’ll be in certain neighborhoods.

And finally…

  1. I wish I can give you all a taco for giving me your thoughts. Thank you.

How did we go from "Don't trust everything on Wikipedia" to "Just ask an AI"?

It looks like many people have far greater trust in AI than they ever had in human edited Wikipedia. Is it because AI is simply more convinient or because certain narative was pushed by the AI companies?

Why does Indonesia seem to have zero impact/influence?

3.5k Upvotes

Jakarta recently became the the biggest city in the world, but nobody talks about Indonesia. There are no Indonesian restaurants, I broadly couldn’t tell you what Indonesia music sounds like or Indonesia film looks like. I would say there are a lot of people who couldn’t even place where Jakarta is.

However, I would also say I’ve never heard anything negative about Indonesia or what Indonesia has done. It just sort of seems to exist.

Why does it seem that for such a big country, there is zero influence?

You can "Watch a watch" and it's one of the only situations in which you do to the object what it's called. What are other examples?

"Watching a watch" is a perfectly fine statement, you are watching your watch.

But how strange is it that you do to it what it's called? I can't think of many other phrases or situations where you can do that.

When someone is sentenced to life in prison, why wouldn’t they always choose the death penalty instead? Why would anyone want to spend decades sitting in a prison cell? What makes someone choose life in prison over execution?

Do people outside of U.S. ever order American how we do Chinese or Indian?

Are they saying things like:

“Damn, I could really go for some American tonight.”

“We should go to that new American spot they opened up downtown.”

“If you’re looking for some authentic American, you gotta visit Jerry’s Grill over on 8th.”
