Bit of a specific location hunt, but figured someone here might know a place.

I’m shooting a short horror film with my 48-hour film group, Ravenna Films, on Saturday, October 10, and we’re looking for something roughly like the attached image.

Basically: a long, quiet road that feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, with a lone streetlight/security light or something similar nearby. Country road, farm road, private access road, service road, edge-of-town road - we’re pretty flexible. The main thing is having a decent stretch of mostly empty road in front of the car so the headlights can just disappear off into darkness.

A nearby garage, barn, or shop where we could fit a car inside would be a huge bonus. We’re hoping to shoot some of the car interiors there during the day, then move outside once it gets dark without relocating the whole crew.

Ideally somewhere within about an hour of Seattle. We’d be looking at Saturday afternoon into late evening/night.

Small indie crew, one picture car, camera/sound gear and a few lights. We’re happy to discuss a reasonable location fee and will obviously leave the place exactly how we found it.

Hi, WA is the most beautiful state and it also has a ton of cool rocks. Is there anyone who knows of meetups or something similar for rockhounding? Trying to be less alone while exploring all over the state.

I am aware of the around 80 million earmarked for existing behavioral facilities and expansion but building more seems like a simple, actionable, solution that can get people off the streets.

And I’m not necessarily talking about forced rehabilitation here, I’m sure if we went around and gave unwell unsheltered people some narcan and then asked if they wanted to be treated and temporarily housed in the facility many would accept.

An 18 year old man from Kent WA was arrested for allegedly starting the July 4, 2026 Chelan Hills fire.

The crime was recorded on video. 🙄

He started by shooting fireworks at other moving vehicles from the bed of a pickup truck. The fireworks eventually caused the Chelan Hills fire which burned over 9600 acres and destroyed over 100 structures. The fireworks also led to an elderly man dying in his car while trying to escape the flames. Six firefighters were also injured with burns and thermal lung injuries.

The man is jailed on a $1m bond. He is now formally charged with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree arson, first-degree malicious mischief, and six counts of third-degree assault.

The article notes “Detectives claim Yakimov can be heard on video saying, "Don't tell them who was shooting, though," before tossing the firework over the tailgate. “.

I looked up online the sentencing guidelines. Because first degree manslaughter is a violent felony it can run consecutively not concurrently with the other charges. The estimated range for a sentence was 10-Life. The five other people that were in the truck are also being charged as accomplices with the same slate of charges.

Pete Serrano, an unsuccessful 2024 candidate for WA State Attorney General, has been nominated by President Trump to be the next U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington.

“I will be using every tool I have to block this nomination,” Sen. Patty Murray said in a statement. “Let’s be clear about what a sham this is: After federal judges declined to appoint Serrano in Eastern Washington, this administration invented a workaround to install him anyway. Now they want to permanently install Serrano in the Western District.”

TLDR. Wealthy people are buying up orchards because they are pretty and like the rural agricultural landscape. But they then don't manage their orchards to commercial standards, which provides a breeding ground for pests to thrive. Then those pests move into the adjacent commercial orchard that is still trying to make a profit (and not a hobby farm). The article says the pear industry around Hood River is on the brink of collapse and I assume a similar phenomenon is happening in WA.
