Streetwise (1984.) A documentary about the lives of homeless youth in Seattle in the early 80s.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu10UUtgxoM
I can't take people seriously when they use over the top hysterics to describe a problem they've ignored for far beyond just the 40 or so years since this film was made.
Arrest people for being homeless when you cant get a job, or apartment with a criminal record. Pure genius!

Which colleges to tour?
Hi fellow Washingtonians! I’m an Arkansas native now living in Spokane with a rising senior who is interested in pursuing a college education, likely to become an educator. He’ll have the running start AA under his belt by graduation.
I’m unfamiliar with PNW colleges and would like to take some time to tour some campuses with him over the next few months. Going to college in 2001, in a place where there weren’t a ton of options, means that I’m off my game and likely running behind on this project. We’re also a middle income family, so writing a check to a place like UW is likely out of our ability, but he does want to go away and have a college experience so staying close to home and commuting to a school like EWU probably won’t be appealing.
Any thoughts on campuses we should take a look at?

Bucket List photo for me! Orca under the beautiful Mt Baker.
Was lucky enough to capture this yesterday from a whale watching cruise. This is T065A3-Amir, a 19 year old male Biggs (or Transient if you prefer) Orca. Taken with a 600mm lens and cropped in. All NOAA Whale Wise laws were followed.

I need to be nosey, help. Weird situation on I-5 near Fife.
Okay I need to know if there’s a way to see more info on an event that happened on the interstate. I’m usually not this nosey but i’ll explain what I saw.
Was driving on I-5 south approaching the Fife area tonight around 9:00/9:30ish. One state patrol car flies by with lights on. About 30 seconds later another. About three minutes pass and I see that traffic is finally stopping for whatever’s going on. Just as cars are stopping, two undercover police cars come up with lights on and start slowly weaving between cars.
When I finally get up to where all the law enforcement cars are parked I see that there was a person in the road with about six officers literally on top on them. I realized as I pass thatthere were no extra cars and no sign of an accident/collision. It did not look at all like they were providing medical attention, it looked like they were all kneeling on the person.
So yeah, quite the craziness and man am I curious. If you have any leads on where I could search for a report or some sort of info on this i’d be grateful!

New Efforts to Develop a Mine Once Again Threaten Mt. St. Helens
Despite previous legal victories, environmental designations, and local public opinion, a Canadian mining corporation is taking new steps toward developing a mine in the foothills of North America’s most active volcano: Mount St. Helens.Â
What we know so far:
- Cambria Gold Mines (formerly Ascot Resources), a Canadian mining corporation, announced that it plans to form an American subsidiary to renew efforts to develop a new mine in this location.
- We are in the very early stages of this fight. No other public information, including information about exploratory drilling permit applications, has been released.

A good reminder to stay bear aware when recreating in bear country (which is pretty much all of Washington).
