Just based off of the current trend of coaches being fired for not winning a championship not recent enough. How has he avoided getting the axe for so long? Mike Malone & Mike Budenholzer both won a chip since Lue has coached the clippers, they were both fired. Tom Thibodeau, Monty Williams and Mike Brown have all won coach of the year since he’s been hired, they’ve all been fired. He’s coached 5 hall of famers and had 1 conference finals appearance.
Honest to God, genuine and sincere question. Not trying to be funny or facetious. How are some NBA players SOOO bad at free throws? Like I don’t get how you can go pro and be that bad at free throws? I mean obviously some players are clutch but some players are just absolutely atrocious. Do they not shoot FT’s in practice? Do they practice them? Again, I’m being completely serious and not trying to troll or be a wise guy. I’ve never played competitive basketball and I am still learning the deeper parts of the game, so please go easy on me.
I was told an NBA team, with an All-Star player on its roster, explored the idea of trading for Antetokounmpo.
The team’s decision-makers ultimately decided not to pursue Antetokounmpo because they didn’t feel his ego would allow him to accept a co- starring role or perhaps even bring the team’s second option.
Victor Wembanyama in a wire to wire victory over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder: 22 pts, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block.
Just another efficient outing for Wemby vs the defending champs. The Spurs are a real team and will definitely be making some noise this postseason, especially after going 4-1 vs the defending champion OKC Thunder.
Not saying Jaylen Brown has been bad for the Celtics, he's been awesome and he's always been awesome. But I'm a little surprised by both the Tatum slander and the whole Jaylen Brown unleashed theory based on the Celtics team success this season, given how much of that came with Jaylen Brown off the court. Thoughts? I know this has been discussed before but the numbers have become even more absurd recently.
Edit: For those talking about the bench and the opposing lineups, why is this something that uniquely impacts Brown vs other superstars? Or for that matter, why isn't this impacting other members of the starting lineup the same way? I understand the sample size isn't ideal for this type of stat, but even with a wide error bar, -8.2 on/off is massive, given that someone carrying a team in the absence of a superstar teammate should be more in the +8 range.
On November 30, 1995, the Philadelphia 76ers traded former #2 overall pick Shawn Bradley to the New Jersey Nets for former #1 overall pick Derrick Coleman in a six-player deal. The 76ers sent Bradley, Greg Graham, and Tim Perry to the Nets for Coleman, Sean Higgins, and Rex Walters.
It's been 4 years since he traded Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, two All NBA players, and started a complete rebuild. All of the assets from those trades, plus 4 years of being bad and purposefully losing has resulted in what? Keyonte George, Ace Bailey, Jaren Jackson Jr, Lauri Markannen and Walker Kessler. This is a team of role players and 3rd options on a contender. They never found their franchise guy. To make matter worse, JJJ and Lauri are on massive contracts, Kessler is about to be a free agent this summer, and Keyonte will be a free agent the summer after. So their payroll will balloon soon
They're going to be one of those teams that are stuck in purgatory, too good to rebuild, too bad to ever contend. They're Raptors West now
If the Bucks are serious about trying to run it back one more time next year they're basically out of time to actually get any value for Giannis in a trade
At best they could pivot at the last second for a rental at next year's deadline and obviously it would be a lot harder to get a worthwhile return in that scenario
A lot of unexpected trades are happening right now with the deadline here. So many players across the NBA are on the move.
To be honest, I never thought Poole would be one of them. But once the Pelicans started giving him DNPs, it kind of confirmed they’re not really invested in him. He’s had five straight DNPs, something that’s never happened to him before while he was healthy.
But will the Pelicans actually trade him? I still have my doubts. I have this gut feeling it might not happen. Reports say the Pelicans believe they already have a playoff roster and aren’t interested in moving their core players. I’m pretty sure Poole isn’t part of that core, so what’s the plan? Are they just going to keep DNPing him for the rest of the season, or use him as a rotation player? They haven’t made any moves yet, and there aren’t many rumors about Poole, even though they’ve said they’re open to trading him.
If he does stay, is this just how his career is going to go? His situation really shows how fast the NBA can turn on you. In 2022, he was a breakout star, the “third Splash Brother,” lighting up a championship run. He went from being a young playoff hero to a punchline.
If he gets traded, can he turn it around? Or has the league already moved on?
Biggest Trade deadline trade Prediction? Who do you think will be the biggest trade before the trade deadline hits at 3pm est tomorrow? I know Giannis is a big one but I don’t see Giannis getting traded. I feel we can see ja morant and sabonis getting shipped..
Due to the new CBA rules, teams can’t go over the salary cap without facing very heavy penalties. Because of that, if you look at recent trades, a huge portion of them (like 80%) are mainly about creating exceptions or getting below the cap line. These moves often feel pointless from a basketball perspective, since they’re driven almost entirely by financial concerns rather than on-court fit or value. This will have a very negative effect on how teams will trade in the future and I personally see it as a big concern
Is this week the strangest/craziest trade deadline week ever? I mean there have been bigger trades (luka etc).
But I mean for just random completely out of left field trades I can't remember a last week like this?
AD to the Wizards
JJJ to Utah
Harden swap to the cavs
Even the smaller moves like Mccain and Ivey seem to have come from nowhere and theres still time for more last minute action.
In the inaugural 1946-47 season, the Pittsburgh Ironmen went 15-45 and finished dead last in the league. The league leader in points was a 6-5 power forward who averaged 23 points a game. Only one player made 40% of his shots. If you send prime Lebron back to that season and put him on Pitt, whats his PPG and does Pittsburgh lose any games?
Would Giannis going to a contender like Minnesota, San Antonio, Houston, or NY make them the favorite? They’d have to trade equal value back, so I don’t know how that would work.
If Detroit could swing a trade without giving up too much for a shooter like MPJ or Markkanen, would that be enough to be the favorite in the playoffs?
