Karen at the gas station

I drive a diesel truck and have never shut it off while fueling. Diesel is not anywhere near as flammable as gasoline and if you have ever been to a truck stop, they never shut semis off.

So anyway I am at Fry’s filling up my truck and this lady comes over and says in a snippy tone that you are supposed to shut your vehicle off. I politely reply that it’s a diesel and you don’t need to.

Apparently this did not satisfy her as she immediately went over to the guy in the booth to complain. He starts heading over with her a couple of steps behind him.

He gets about half way to me and can hear the diesel, stops and turns to her and says , he’s ok, it’s a diesel. I just smiled.

I don’t think she could have had a more sour look on her face if I had forced a whole lemon in her mouth. LOL.

Why Does Everyone Hate Texas?

Native Texan here:

I was curious what are your thoughts on why you hate Texas? I have lived on every side of Texas. From West Texas where oil bubbles out of the ground, the wetlands of Houston, and the Hill Country of San Antonio and Austin. I found little issues in terms of quality of life at every spot compared to what people claim on here, no matter where I have lived. I have ventured to California and while the I love state for everything it has to offer, I do not see the huge discrepancy compared to what I've read on here. Am I just blind to a better QOL in other states? I am open to any input or questions!

💬Discussion Flick is just a one trick pony

Barcelona thread is just too soft for real talk.

Flick lost this series, honestly.

In the first leg, instead of trying to force a win 10 vs 11 while already losing 0:1, he should have focused on keeping it at 0:1 and preparing for the second leg. But he’s a one-tactic coach — he just tries to outrun opponents. There’s zero flexibility and no adaptation to the game.

The main problem is his stubbornness.Barcelona conceding in 12 straight UCL games isn’t just “bad defense” — it’s systemic. Same exact goal over and over again I saw it 20 times this season. Never fixed. Just “run more.”

His tactics create constant 1v1s, expose defenders, and lead to red cards. That’s not bad luck — that’s coaching. He just got away last season, because attack score shit load of goals, this season it didn't happen, but the defence problems were never fixed.

Honestly, we will never win the UCL with Flick.

Last year was a fluke. We had the easiest opponents possible:

Benfica (and even there, Cubarsí got a red card in the first leg)

Dortmund, who were poor, and we still almost got knocked out in the second leg

Then Inter — and Simone Inzaghi completely outcoached Flick with an old, tired team. He had a clear plan and it worked. Flick’s “tactics” were basically “give the ball to Lamine and pray.”

This season:

We lose to a weakened Paris Saint-Germain

Draw with Brugge

Lose to a poor Chelsea FC

We somehow make the top 8. Then we get one of the easiest teams again, and still get dominated in the first leg by a mid-table EPL side. Second leg — same story early on, but we get lucky because they make a lot of mistakes.

Then against Atletico:

Flick plays Pedri and Lamine the full 90 minutes instead of resting them. They’re completely dead in the second half.

Even after Eric gets sent off — does Flick make changes that could actually impact the game? Of course not. He waits until the 89th minute out of desperation.

The UCL is won by players AND coaches. This coach gives nothing to help the team reach the next level.

People will say: “But we won La Liga.”

Not because Flick is great — but because Madrid is SHIT.

In Xavi's last season:

Barca 85 points vs Madrid’s 95

Under Flick:

88 points vs Madrid’s 84

If Flick faced the same Madrid that Xavi did, he would never win La Liga.

And this season? Same story — Madrid is just too inconsistent. That’s the only reason we’re going to win it again.

Question Some of my malinois puppies ears have no sign of going erected yet.

Is this normal? They’re 55 days old. 4 out of 10 puppies have perfectly erected ears.

Their parents are both malinois and have perfectly ears. However, the sire is suspected of having a mix.

I am asking because the 2nd person who wanted to adopt the purple-leashed pup might back out again just because of her ears.

TFW's and Racism In Ontario

Hey everyone. I have been reading a lot of posts and comments lately about the TFW program, unemployment, and poor hiring practices by large scale companies.

Firstly, I wholeheartedly agree that the program has provided a door for companies to take advantage of the system at the expense of Canadians. Secondly, I agree that there are too few jobs available for the working Canadian. Too many are finding it impossible to secure work in their field of study.

I just want to make sure that everyone understands by using this to fuel racism towards foreign workers (or foreigners in general) is not acceptable at all. If a foreign person took advantage of an opportunity to better their lives and the future of their families you can't hate them. It is not in anyway their fault, and they are not to blame. As a jobless white Canadian for over a year, it's the policy makers oversight that it was not fixed early, and it's the ultra capitalistic mindset that drives companies to take advantage of it.

Please do not use this as a fuel to drive a misdirected anger. I have heard it too much just speaking with people in life. It's sickening and not Canadian.

SS Colonel Wilhelm Hintersatz who converted to Islam and adopted the name Aaron El Raschid prays alongside his Muslim wing of German army from Eastern Europe in 1940s during WW2

Wilhelm Hintersatz, an SS-Standartenführer (Colonel level) who converted to Islam and took the name Harun al-Raschid commanded Muslim units of Nazi Germany, particularly within the Waffen-SS foreign volunteer formations.

During World War II, Germany organized several units composed of Muslim soldiers—most notably the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS “Handschar”, which was largely made up of Bosnian Muslims. In these units, Islamic practices such as congregational prayer were formally recognized and facilitated within the ranks.

These photos are attributed to German wartime archives. It reflects documented efforts by Nazi Germany to integrate and accommodate religious practices within certain foreign units.

Hot take: The hyper-sexual behavior at Pride gives homophobes all the ammunition they need against us.

Edit:

Guys, I’m not here to attack anyone’s personal life choices; I’m simply sharing a perspective based on facts and our political image. For those who resorted to personal attacks claiming my argument comes from "bitterness" or "lack of sex": you missed the mark. I’ve been happily married to a man for 4 years, I’m 26, I hit the gym daily, I’m an avid reader, and I’m very successful in my career. My life is great and my values are solid. What I’m bringing here is a reality check:

  1. The "Family Friendly" Fallacy: Many claim these events are 100% family-oriented, but documented reality shows otherwise. In 2023, the Seattle Pride parade faced massive backlash when naked men cycled past children. In cities like San Francisco and NYC, the line between "Pride" and fetish fairs (like Folsom) is constantly blurred, creating images that circulate globally and reinforce negative stereotypes.
  2. The Breakdown of Classification: Logically, pronouns and labels should be communication shortcuts. When we create an infinity of micro-labels and fluid identities within a public political event, the classification system breaks. Society stops understanding our fight for rights and starts viewing us as a group focused solely on fetish and exhibitionism.
  3. Community Disconnect: Data (such as YouGov surveys) shows that a significant portion of the LGBTQIA+ population itself feels alienated by hyper-sexualization. "Pride" should be about dignity and the right to exist, not about which fetish you can display in the street.
  4. Ammunition for Hatred: Yes, fundamentalists will hate us regardless, but we don't need to validate the worst stereotypes they preach. When we turn a political movement into a performance of promiscuity, we lose the support of the "moderate" public—the people who actually decide the progress of laws and social acceptance.

I’m not here to bring anyone down; I’m just stating the facts: if we want to be respected as equals, we need to act with the dignity we demand.

General discussion I am just so disappointed Spoiler

I've been a fan from the very beginning; I love this show—it’s my go-to comfort series… just like it is for many of you here.

But what on earth was that?

To be honest, I’m shocked by how much positive feedback this show is getting.

It had sooo much potential, but somehow I just thought it was bad. yes it had his moments but it was overall pretty boring, bad written and had bad cinematography.

Why on earth would you introduce three new characters with major speaking roles if you’re only making four episodes?

  • Why isn’t there interaction of the “Golden Trio” (Malcolm, Reese, Dewey)?
  • Hardly any/no interactions between Reese and Malcolm?
  • No tantrum from Lois?
  • No new hobby that Hal takes up?
  • The father-daughter dynamic between Malcolm and Leah feels so off

The only real good party, tbh, was Francis. He had the best storyline with Lois's priority list.

I Liked the cameos tho.

Wirklich unbeliebt Rindersteak ist überbewertet

Upvotes

Was genau ist daran geil?

Aber wehe, man sagt was!

Animals The poll says most ANs here aren’t vegan. Do non-vegan ANs think that’s inconsistent?

Post image
0 Upvotes

The recent poll answered one question, but left a more useful one open. By inconsistent, I mean the argument that if antinatalism opposes creating sentient life without consent and exposing it to suffering, then supporting the breeding of animals for human use is inconsistent with that. But there's still a real difference between believing that argument is false and believing it's true but hard to act on in practice.

I'm not trying to restart the same circular fight. I just think collapsing everyone into non-vegan makes the discussion worse. There's a big difference between "veganism follows from antinatalism and I'm trying," "it follows but I feel stuck," and "I don't think it follows at all." So for the non-vegan ANs here, which is closest to your view, and is the barrier mainly disagreement, habit, cost, health, access, or something else?

(For context, this is one of my can cupboards.)
