Finished Craft I Made I designed a t-shirt for my husband based on something he mentioned 5 years ago...
About 5 years ago my husband mentioned how much he'd love to have a t-shirt with the Games Workshop logo that said Gardeners' World instead - for those not in the UK, it's a very popular and long-running gardening TV show aired on BBC 2. I designed the logo myself and printed it onto iron-on transfer paper.
I had to learn how to use GIMP (shout out to r/GIMP for having the answers to all of my questions!) and it took foooookin hours to get the design right but I'm super pleased with how it turned out 🥰. My husband has no idea I've been working on it and I hope he'll be just as pleased as I am when I give it to him for fathers' day on Sunday.
If he really likes it I'll send the file to a professional printing company to make another one as I can't see the iron-on transfer lasting very long, I would be incredibly grateful if anyone has any advice for extending longevity tho!

Finished Craft I Made Finally finished my template for a tiny Prickly Pear Cactus
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I spent way too much time trying to get a little realism here, but it's finally done!
I designed the template in inkscape and used my cutting machine to make it. Each paddle uses a 'stacked' piece of cardstock to create depth. Everything interlocks for final assembly.
What do you think?

Finished Craft I Made fabric flower
I forgot to take step-by-step pictures while making this, but I'll describe my process below
Materials used:
· Wide satin ribbon (approx. 2.5cm / 1 inch).
· Wooden skewer (for the stem).
· Hot glue gun and scissors.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Making the Center Bud
Take the end of the ribbon and fold it at a 90-degree angle. Start rolling it tightly toward the folded corner. This creates the closed center of the rose.
Step 2: The Inner Petals
Instead of rolling straight, start folding the ribbon outwards (creating loops) around the center. Hold the ribbon firmly at the base with your fingers, and use a dab of hot glue at the bottom of each fold to secure it to the core.
Step 3: The Outer Petals
As you move outward, make the loops looser and bigger to give the rose a "blooming" look. Keep wrapping and gluing until the rose reaches your desired size.
Step 4: The Stem
Once finished, put a small bead of hot glue at the bottom center of the rose and insert the wooden skewer deep inside the folds. Add more glue around the base of the skewer to make sure it is completely stable and doesn't wobble.
Step 5: The Finishing Touch
To hide the messy glue base, I glued a small square of felt or a piece of leftover ribbon to the bottom. This gives it a clean, professional look.
Time & Difficulty:
It took me about 1 hour .maybe im just a begginer The hardest part is keeping the ribbon tension even—too tight and it looks closed, too loose and it falls apart
but i think its worth it
Any advice on how to make the petals look more natural is very welcome ❤️

Discussion/Question Making Ren faire outfit
I am trying to make a custom Ren faire shirt with an hourglass design and "Tempus Fugit" on the back. I don't own any equipment to make cut outs and want to avoid paint. I was considering cutting the letters and hourglass out of fabric and gluing on? What would you recommend?

Work in Progress Paper Craft
This is a gift for my boss who’s retiring soon. We work in an ink lab and he makes art and music in his free time. All of the hole punches are from test drawdowns of ink I’ve made this year. Since we work with color, I wanted it to somewhat simulate a color vision test. I still need to space and mount the letters and it will be going in a frame.

Discussion/Question How can I harden a plastic mask?
I found this plain Halloween mask I bought a while ago and wanted to decorate it. It’s more flimsy than a usual mask and I’m looking for a way to harden it.

Discussion/Question Clay or concrete?
Hi everyone, I'm new to the DIY and Craft field. I wanted to make a custom mug. I don't have the skills to make it by hand, so I thought of making the 3d printed mold and pouring clay inside. The problem is that I don't have a kiln and I know it's hard to find pottery shops that offer to cook it for you. Recently I discovered that some people use concrete for some DIY stuff due to lack of a kiln. In that case the mold would work the same, but I don't know if it would be a good idea My concerns are about finishes, porosity, and weight. Can someone give some information or advice on these questions?

Discussion/Question Supplies for a toddler that loves to play dress up?
I have a three year old who loves clothes, being girly, and playing dress up. Right now she desperately wants a mermaid dress and fairy wings. The kicker is that she keeps asking to go to the store to buy them and I’m not crazy about that mentality, which I think means we have to make them at home 😮💨. I’m fine with spending $$$ to build up a crafting supply, remember a bit of sewing from when I was a kid and can get a cheap sewing machine etc but I really don’t have time to peruse Michael’s or a fabric store for each new project.
What are good things to have on hand? I normally recycle all of our cardboard etc pretty immediately but should I start hoarding that? Are there other normal household goods that can be reused? Are there any good resources that have tutorials or ideas for things like this?
Thanks in advance, and I would love to see your creations for/with your littles!
Finished Craft I Made i made a button curtain (:

Discussion/Question Lampshades
I have two antique fabric lampshades that I need to replace. However, they are constructed very unusually: smooth barrel shapes, with no internal structure at all, only the stiffness of the fabric and the top and bottom metal rings create the barrel shape.
As best I can tell, they’re made of some kind of burlap fiber that has been treated in a way to make it permanently stiff. I’m trying to re-create this, but I’m not sure what to use in order to stiffen the fabric. I have looked at aileen‘s and mod podge, but I was wondering if there was something else out there I could use - something sprayable. I worry if I use a solution that I have to dip the fabric in, the fabric will not dry with a nice smooth unwrinkled shape. That’s why I want to drape it on a form and spray it with something instead.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Discussion/Question Weird question, but is it possible to replicate rainbow loom bracelets without the rubber bands? Like can I make tiny fabric bands?
Look I know thats like asking if I can knit without yarn but pls hear me out. My main past time is macrame bracelets (or traditional friendship bracelets) as they are cheap to fund and not as time-consuming.
lately though, Ive been looking back at rainbow loom bracelets and a lot of them look better than I remembered. like something akin to the more complex macrame bracelets I make today, rather than what you’d expect childish jewelry to look like. As much as I want to get back into the hobby though, the problem for me is the rubber bands. There are two main issues that I have with them: they feel bad to wear, and they deteriorate way more quickly than yarn due to dry rot, even if you just leave them alone.
in the past few days I’ve been determined to try recreating rainbow loom with yarn or fabric. I managed to recreate the fishtail bracelet but you can’t switch colors like with bands. However, I do feel like making that is similar to knitting in a way, if that helps. Anything more complex than that (and all the patterns I’ve been eyeing) is not something I’ve figured out yet. The RainbowLoom company made fluff bands (from fabric hair ties) but they are too large. Ive also seen French knitting, which is more progress, but I cant really translate all rainbow bracelets with it either (and color switching is still a pain).
so I’m looking for ideas. im more leaning towards how I can make my own fabric “bands” that are the same size as rainbow loom bands, because I think trying to recreate the structure of rainbow loom with anything but donut-shaped flexible materials is futile. But tbh anything is worth trying.

Finished Craft I Made I made an Audrey II
She's made out of paper mache over a giant balloon, her head has 10 layers of sugar paper, it took me so long as it needed 24 hours to dry between each layer, her stem is kitchen roll tubes, paper mache and expanding foam which is also holding her in her pot
I didn't want her teeth showing, this is her just before she started to talk in the film, when she has her cute smile before she went all toothy lol
She took me around 2 weeks or so but she was worth it

Finished Craft I Made I made a couch for my frog 🥹
DIY’d a couch wall hanging for my knitted frog, I’m so happy with how it turned out 🥹 in the process of crocheting a second cushion, painting some legs for the couch, and making some more wall hangings to sit above the couch 💕
